The players woke up to some news today: Lisa’s most supported emote is finally back in the store after what probably feels like an eternity. And the responses on Twitter have been downright chaotic. Black! Instant buys and demands for more BLACKPINK content have been fueling chatter louder than a tilted tower lobby in the Fortnite community!
What’s so wrong with this emote? It’s called New Woman, and the sly motion needs to be praised, truly set apart from a general Fortnite dance library. Originally by BLACKPINK K-pop girl group Lisa, the emote has been MIA for about a few months in which players have been crying for its return. Now that it is here?- That’s name-your-price to-selling-fast equivalents of any default skin.
There was no second thought for a particular player @gagamultiverse as he tweeted with a clip of himself flexing the emote in-game: “FINALLY I BOUGHT IT SO FAST.” Then @LisaVote50 went all dramatic with a much bigger “I’m a new woman.” See! This emote is hugely a lifestyle. Big mood!
There are some players who are not particularly pleased with this. Players such as @markeil3 throw a side-eye on the massive umbrella of “sus emotes,” wondering “Where’s the manly stuff at?” whereas @NutsAndCoco came out with “What’s with this sexy emote? This is a kids’ game!” Of course, Fortnite emotes have always tiptoed that annoying-and-fun line… but, well, at least they’re not just another floss.
And hey, hype over Lisa’s emote doesn’t stand alone. Today, the shop is filled with the returning all-stars, with the likes of @Surfer_Universe calling it “actually really good.” From Mantra to other long-awaited moves, Epic is really feeding demand; just look at @cultbrina, who has been “BEGGING for weeks.” Now that’s a happy camper.
Yet each time Fortnite updates, there’s really always something missing. For @TylerXBro, it’s the summer dummy skin- “THIS ISN’T OUT YET ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜” while @YAKINE_W is holding out for a Rick Grimes one. And then @fortyniteuk hit us with the real request: “We need BLACKPINK in Fortnite Festival!!” Honestly? Same.
Now, the real question is: for how much longer is this emote going to be here? If history serves any purpose, these timed drops appear for a minute and then go down. So that’s for anyone who’s been waiting for a while- Your hold chain is now. Judging from the reply, a whole lot of people already did.
What in the world will be next? There’s a possibility that Epic is producing another K-pop collab. Maybe dummy skin will finally see daylight. Or maybe the devs have an alternate surprise for everyone. One thing’s for sure, though: the Fortnite item shop is the biggest love-hate thing the players are known to have. Love for the drops, hate for FOMO. Yup, that’s 2024 gaming for ya.
So for those who haven’t checked the shop yet… What are you waiting for? That emote’s not going to buy herself.
