Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo are giving gamers another chance to try out Nioh 2 before the game officially launches.
The “Last Chance Trial” includes access to the complete character customization tool, summonable Yokai, the Switchglaive weapon, and three missions.
This demo will be players’ last opportunity to try out the game before it launches in March. The demo will not remain on the PlayStation store after the game has been released.
Nioh 2 is an upcoming sequel developed by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo. The official PlayStation store states: “Master the lethal arts of the samurai as a mysterious half-human, half-supernatural Yokai warrior, in this challenging action RPG sequel. Explore violent Sengoku-era Japan and the deadly Dark Realm, both plagued with grotesque, merciless demons. Unsheathe your deadly weapons and cut down all enemies in your path using a revamped combat system and the ability to transform into a full Yokai to unleash devastating paranormal powers.”
A beta was previously released a few weeks ago with similar content. During this beta, the development team held a character customization contest. The winners had their custom creations included as presets in the game and their names in the credits. Since so many players entered, Team Ninja announced some additional presets would be added as NPCs.
The trail begins on Friday, February 28, and lasts all weekend until Sunday, March 1. Save progress during the trial will not roll over into the full game, but custom characters can be imported into the final release. The Nioh 2 team encourages players to spend time creating a character to take with them in the final build.
The official news post on the PlayStation Blog goes into detail about what players can expect from the beta. Players can experience the brutal gameplay, variety of weapons, and stances to lead them to victory.
There are only three missions, but they’ll give gamers a glimpse into the world that Nioh 2 takes place. They all take place on Mount Tenno, a region filled with creatures waiting to test players’ skills.
Nioh 2 expands on the original title, thanks to plenty of feedback from fans. It includes brand new gameplay mechanics that will even let players transform into Yokai. Multiplayer has also been improved.
Nioh 2 is a PlayStation 4 exclusive that launches on March 13, 2020.
