From the basketball courts to the wrestling ring, the Knicks’ social star, Jalen Brunson, is all set for a mining new world WWE 2K25 virtual wrestling appearance under the Dunk & Destruction Pack. This announcement came from WWE Games on their Twitter handle, garnering a mixture of excitement and confusion from the game community-some went mad for the crossover, while some others asked why a basketball player was carrying the DLC for a wrestling game.
The trailer has him putting down the dribbling skills for a dropkick: one Twitter user joking, “Is his finisher a flop?” The crossover is not that strange-after all, the WWE 2K games have already seen several guest celebs, Bad Bunny, Logan Paul being the frontrunners. But Brunson is causing more of a stir. “Damn, at least give us some good music to put on our CAWs cause this some bs,” tweeted one disgruntled fan, with another commenting, “Who gives a…. 🙄”
Meanwhile, the comment section has been flooded with demands from players, questioning what happened to missing content of the *first* DLC pack. “BITCH where is the mystery guest for pack one?!??!?? QUICKLY before I come up there,” raved @westendrrr, which captures the sentiment of many more who feel shortchanged. The mystery guest has been speculated to be a major celebrity, evoking uncertainty from the community because of their still-undisclosed status. “So they’re just going to ignore the missing Celebrity in DLC 1 what a scam 😂,” tweeted @EDDYOTC.
While others may have given it some grace, “Whats crazy is he looks like a real wrestler,” commented @armstrongtimes, and @Wrestlingprodz exclaimed in support, “Goats in the game Knicks in 9.” But views? Impatient and skeptical. “Would’ve been better with some real superstars guys,” contended @MainEventWire, which summed up the mindset of those who wish for wrestling legends over NBA crossovers.
Other than “coming soon”-being the only info provided-so far, the Dunk & Destruction Pack is still without an official release date. But with the post-launch cycle for WWE 2K25 already in full swing, some players have started hoping the next drop gives them a little bit more than just Brunson—like, you know, the missing DLC wrestlers they’ve been waiting on for what feels like forever. Or, as @Heel_Tyler questioned, “Are we actually gonna get all the characters this time?”
One thing is clear: the DLC plans of WWE 2K25 have these players walking on whatever toes are available-whether they like it or not. If, for some reason, virtual suplexes of Brunson won’t soften the skeptics, perhaps the other pack will. Then again, maybe it won’t. Either way, the chatter now is louder than the crowd at WrestleMania.
Keep the tweets hitting on because somebody over at WWE Games is absolutely seeing these; they just aren’t replying. On a positive note, at least Brunson got himself a new theme song. “It’s my theme song now,” cried out @Demonslayer877. Silver linings, right?
For the moment, all the attention turns to the next DLC drop. Will it bring missing bits? Or curveballs? Stay attached. Or not. Either way, the internet has an opinion.
