Tom’s Guide just did the polite thing for the new iPhone Air, by attempting to bend it with polite hands. And they just couldn’t do it; not at all! Something really amazing, considering how thin they have been told this guy is. The video was trending on Twitter, and the whole Internet is having a blast as one of the biggest tech-destruction YouTubers being challenged here.
The spoof Apple account retweeted this clip, and the commentary is truly priceless. They are tagging JerryRigEverything already: You know, the guy who gets paid to bend phones? One user commented, “Wait until it gets in the hands of @ZacksJerryRig,” while another said, “They’re challenging you. You have 24 hours to respond.” The pressure is on for real!
Reminiscing, some gamers are defending the side. As one commenter, Deandawiz, wrote about the whole thing: “It’s a beautiful phone, good functionality for it to be thin. People will complain about anything.” Another replied, “Maybe not sure if what he does is what people actually do with their phones.” Meaning, “like who even bends their phone intentionally unless it is a YouTuber for the clicks?!”
Now, the next thing is the material debate. Some are arguing if it’s made from aluminum or titanium. “That’s made from aluminium…” followed up by “It’s made from titanium… titanium is one of the most durable metals on the planet,” are totally opposite to one another. So which is it?? Obviously, it’s very confusing.
Waiting for its demise is the best part. One says, “The iPhone Air hasn’t met its final boss yet,” with a gif of someone poised to smash the phone. Another one dropped in, “Hand it to me, I’ll snap that shit in half and throw it like a shuriken,” where the assertiveness is quite funny.
Talking about specs and battery life. One side concerns that Air might have less battery life than the Pro models, while the others say, “But it’s rated just as much as iPhone 16 Pro.” And that would be pretty impressive, for a phone so thin. Again, till it’s out in the open and people start using it, who knows?
All in all, the bend tests aren’t a new thing. Remember the whole bendgate fiasco with the bending of those iPhone 6 Pluses in pockets? So Apple should’ve learned a lesson ensuring this stands firm against some pressure. But hey, all of it is just talk until JerryRigEverything gets his hands on it.
In the fashion-vs-function argument. There’s some claiming that the Air is more for style, but that’s fine as long as the fundamentals are there. Not everyone needs a fully-featured iPhone anyway, right? Especially if it’s for social media, calls, and not high-end gaming or something.
Now what was I saying? Oh yeah: bend testing. So Tom’s Guide couldn’t bend it, but really, I doubt they were trying that hard. Maybe they were, but they’re unwilling to go on camera and smash a brand-new phone. But the entire Internet is thirsting for the view of its snapping – it has kind of evolved into a bizarre form of entertainment.
Also, some comments were thrown around in other languages? Like one saying: “o čem je toto video?” which means “what is this video about?” in Czech. So, there is international hype behind it, which is cool. And another goes “Like a seismic building” followed by laughing emojis, probably signaling some sort of joke about the phone being sturdy.
At the end of the day, it’s just a phone, and the drama around it has been quite entertaining. Whether it bends or not, people will show up to talk about it. And if it does bend, it’s going to be an utter nightmare PR story for Apple. But if it doesn’t bend, Apple’s gonna be praised for making the thinnest strong phone ever.
So keep an eye on JerryRigEverything as you know that once he gets one he’ll dive head-first into torturing it. Until then, let’s revel in the memes and the fiery opinions from Twitter – the Internet’s best!
