A bunch of opposite reactions–hung somewhere between hype and jokes, and the zillion demands on Twitter–are going on since Insomniac Games dropped their Insomniac Live: The Intern Show. The developer backs Marvel’s Spider-Man and the very much anticipated Wolverine, and the intern show was their way of shining some light on what really goes on inside-the-office. But gamers? They had a very different issue on their mind.
Responses were a melting pot consisting of excitement and disorganized chaotic remarks. Between the mixture came @SousAlmammri joking, “Is it a show or a sleep deprivation experiment?” And well, it does feel like both sometimes when working in game dev. Then @Judaschu came in with just shooting their shot, really, with, “Daredevil in Spider-Man 3 anything.” And had to really come back with begging for Ratchet & Clank remasters as if it was for his last meal. The desperation is so real.
Next up in the classic comments category is @KredoBludt throwing the “Spiderman a Xbox ajaja” (translation: Spider-Man on Xbox, haha). Sorry, mate, but there ain’t gonna be one unless Sony suddenly forgets they own exclusivity rights for it.- @MirDormir was following up with some extra sleep deprivation test comments. At this point, Insomniac should just rebrand as a sleep lab.
Then another set of real stars amongst the comments: Wolverine. While @MartialDL went caps lock-free with “Wolverine Wolverine Wolverine Wolverine” before saying chill everyone, @slayerd2_ threw in, “Cool show, but where’s my Wolverine news?” That thirst for the game is, in fact, mind-boggling, and I think Insomniac’s Interns could feel that tension quite well over the screen.
@WilSakai then goes full-on rant mode about the Gen Z Interns. And…gender of Spider-Man? Look, dude, maybe take a nap. Meanwhile, @Sk33ter_V is busy manifesting for the future as “oldest intern” at Insomniac, and honestly? Respect for that hustle.
Oh! No way, don’t forget @spgboobroIeplay, saying, “Be ready for my Sunset Overdrive 2, Insomniac.” Bold-say, and we love it. The chaotic replies are pure gamer culture-dems, memes, and a little absurdity.
So what are you gonna take away from that? Sure, Insomniac’s Intern Show was fun, but the gamers are always going to figure out a way to hijack that for their wishlists. Whether it is Wolverine news, Xbox ports, or Ratchet & Clank remaster comments, they will go wild. And honestly? They are better this way.
Now, excuse us while we keep refreshing Twitter for that Wolverine trailer that definitely won’t be dropping today. Or is it? (Spoiler alert: it isn’t.)
