Every Spider-Man player has been beckoned by Insomniac Games, and believe me when I say if something had been really wild. Now Photo Mode displays are inciting a frenzy on social media.
It’s all caps from Insomniac: “WE WANT PICTURES OF SPIDER-MAN,” and one can just imagine J. Jonah Jameson screaming those words. Players must now submit their best Photo Mode screenshots from Marvel’s Spider-Man, for PS4 and also on the PS Plus Game Catalog on PS5. And, this is only this weekend, with the familiar classic tag #BeGreater, which is attached to these games, for a little nudge in addition.
All right, so the community truly had to step up. Some minutes after the tweet went live, the replies began to morph into a gigantic gallery of mesmerizing Spider-Man shots, flaunting—in monstrous fashion—fine action poses, dramatic lighting setups, and in-your-face demonstration of how awesome photo mode tools are in these games. Some of these could hold their own among actual Marvel movie scenes.
Within moments of the original tweet, a player by the name of yapper stone ✂️🩸 responded with “Some I took,” followed by some really slick images tagged #SpidermanPS5. Then there’s Rafa Marrón with: “I really love this Photo Mode!” plus another round of brilliant shots. Some of those photos into creativity are pretty far. Art? Who knew swinging through New York could be it?
The fun twist here lies in that, among thrilling snaps, some… less thrilling… solicitations lurk. Several replied straight up with “WE WANT DLC” in all sorts of variations. Scott Jacobs dropped a half-serious “@insomniacgames WE WANT DLC,” not skipping a bit. And Ayush said plainly with their photo submission: “Only if you give a DLC.” The thirst for content is there and rightly so, for these games are just that good.
Then a conversation about Xbox keeps popping up. “I would but it’s not on Xbox!…” comes Herbal Chief’s answer, making a valid point. And Bltza did not waste any time asking: “@insomniacgames, is the rumor of Spider-Man getting added to Xbox true or false? I’ve seen it on TikTok and my news feed.” That rumor has been going on for pretty long now, and people want a straight answer.
And wait, it does not end here! As soon as the talk surrounding Spider-Man starts, some folks have been hyped for Insomniac’s next Marvel IP. MV chimed in with “WE WANT PICTURES OF WOLVERINE,” y’know, same energy. Yossi gini then follows with “Where is Wolverine? It’s been four years since it’s been announced; how long you gonna keep us waiting?” The hype is really picking up for that game, even as Joy and others are chilling with the Spider-Man games.
Now, what is really incredible: The game photo mode is impacting people away from just the interface. A user Maskeda said that the photography for Spider-Man inspired them to take up photography as a hobby. Then, they posted a series of shots, saying, “Thank you for these wonderful games.” That’s a special case of when a game mechanic actually influences someone in the real world.
The kind of shots being shared is also pretty insane: from dramatic sunset swings to close-ups of the suit, from action shots frozen at just the perfect moment. Jason shared: “2 from my first playthrough and 2 from my most recent one,” a mark of how these games have sustained the interest of many players long after they’ve essentially finished them for the last time. Unyimusic seems to be the typical theme.
That being said, technical questioning starts to stretch across the replies. One guy said to MrThiib, “How’d you do the first one lol” regarding one of his epic shots; he answered perfect timing and adjustment distance. It basically turned into a gigantic virtual photography community exchanging tips and tricks.
What is striking is that this simple call for photos has turned into this massive celebration for the Spider-Man games. People are not merely sharing pictures; they’re sharing memories, favorite moments, and putting their creativity on display. The #BeGreater hashtag is everywhere, and the impact of these games on players is quite clear.
Good timing too, given these two entries were recently added to PlayStation Plus. Therefore, there probably are quite a few newbies coming in on the Photo Mode for their very first time, with the veteran bunch glad to return to either title for more antics involving Snapshots and Screen Art. Hats off to Insomniac for this.
Looking over all these responses, it is clear the photo mode in the Spider-Man games is neither trivial nor unimportant; it is quickly evolving into a true artistic outlet for people. The quality of some of these shots is downright commercial, and you just feel the passion behind those shots. There’s an active community engaged with Insomniac’s efforts, be it screaming for DLC, asking about ports to Xbox, or hyping Wolverine.
So if you are clinging on to either Spider-Man title and haven’t experienced what photo mode has to offer, what are you waiting for? Weekend has arrived; Insomniac is asking; and the community is answering in a big way. Time to start swinging all the way through New York and snapping a ton of cool pics. And maybe do not expect J. Jonah Jameson to pay you for them.
