As is corroborated by 343 Industries, players of Halo Infinite are about to receive a gigantic and everlasting in-game economy. Operation Infinite to take off on November 18th, and the game will allow the acquisition of Spartan Points at double the rate permanently; this means that practically every gamer will have extra currency to buy the new skins of the Exchange. So until now, it has only been good news for the people who still play or think about returning to the latest version of the game.
Hence, what does this actually mean? To put it in simple terms, due to the doubling of Spartan Points for every match and every challenge completed, the accumulation of Points is going to be overwhelming for players. However, this is not a temporary event. It is going to be the one main thing that lasts forever. So when you go to the lengths of stating it, it is quite wild. Most of the games run double XP weekends or put a temporary boost, but then it is a bold move to give it a permanent status. Halo Infinite gets to be the first to do that.
Still, the timing is puzzling. The Operation Infinite receives its first blow on November 18th, and players have already started speculating that the game’s longevity will determine the operation’s success. A user @y0shii_keyz straightforwardly titled “Do NOT leave INFINITE to fkn rot… we got another fkn year minimum till the next multi…. Soooooo carry until then with infinite.” Yeah, that’s a reasonable observation. With the next Halo multiplayer likely being still a long way off, this might be 343’s method to keep people engaged.
Not all, after all, are euphoric about this. @poke_jerm replied with “For what? For the game to be taken offline in a year?” Yikes! What a serious skepticism! And then @DaGeekyNerd added the morbid and yet funny “Gotta look good for the funeral.” The community does seem to be divided, on one hand, there are those who want to customize their Spartans, and on the other hand, there are those who think it is too little too late.
The cosmetic arguments have also become quite hot. A major dispute is going on between @Marlo_138 and @Metal_Lite over white armor coatings. They are literally arguing about the subtle differences between Silent Snow and Wintergeist coatings. @Marlo_138 claims “If you have an eye for this sort of thing, like I do, you would know that it’s not even close to being the same.” @Metal_Lite, on the other hand, says “they’re both white coatings and they’re both perfectly fine for a clean fit.” Fashion is very important even in the virtual world, and it is amazing.
Nevertheless, some gamers face technical issues. @DaedricShyGuy mentioned, “The game has not even been able to start up via Steam in months.” Along the same lines, @suyuri is very upset about her armor hall not loading: “Fix my armor hall first! I paid for cosmetics and can’t even use them because it won’t load!” So, even though double points are a grand thing, some underlying issues still need to get sorted out.
The very common question is what is going to happen to all those Spartan Points when the next game in the Halo series is released. @BB_Kiwi_Piwi asked, “Should I keep my Credits for the next Halo (it would be cool if it carries over like CoD) or should I just spend all of it right now since it’s the last update?” What a relevant question! If this is the end of the line for Infinite’s final major update, will our hard-earned points just evaporate when the servers eventually go down?
Others prefer to have a completely different thing. @DecodeModernity has suggested, “Why not just reduce the exchange prices to half for eternity?” That would have been fantastic! @Alan_vstheworld requests cross-core customization, @Lyndis_ is imploring for MCC updates, and @karma_spark simply wants Halo 5 on the PC right away. and the list goes on.
For the players who have been gone for a while, this might be just the thing that gets them back. @ShoddyLegion commented “Hey, look at that. A reason to play infinite again after 2½ years.” And @MixedMarshalArt confessed “I do miss this game. This is tempting..” So perhaps the whole double points for life thing will actually help in reviving the player base a little.
The Exchange is also scheduled to receive new merchandise, thus making this feature even more attractive. @CornBreadMan264 is looking for a specific coating and has even shared an image, while others are eagerly expecting an increase in the number of items on which they can spend the points they have been awarded. With the doubled points, PlayStation and Xbox players alike will benefit from this permanent boost.
