Alright gamers, be seated tightly, for the industry analyst Michael Pachter has dropped his wild predictions on GTA 6, following which the whole of the internet went nuts. Pachter said that the next Rockstar AAA could be sold for $100, generate almost $10 billion in lifetime revenues, and cost $1.5 billion in production. Oh, and Rockstar was going to rake in $500 million a year from GTA Online. Wacko!
But, let’s be real. We are talking about Mr. Pachter here. Pachter stands tall with a belt of daring predictions: some are correct, and others have missed like a noob in a GTA Online deathmatch. In any regard, these numbers are enough to spark a raging war on Twitter with gamers split between “Shut up and take my money” and “Hell no, I’ll wait for a sale.”
Regarding the quoted $100-and-above price tag; some players support the idea. Twitter user @snatchsix50X posted, “I’ll easily pay $100 for this game. Big expectations.” The dissenting crowd called for anyone willing to pay that much money to be expelled from humanity; @JohnMadden020 of this belief tagged that it was a crime to pay $100, calling these men “loner simps” who should put their money towards OnlyFans subscriptions. The plot thickens with the likes of @Metalhead_007_ saying GTA has enough goodwill to support the price; to which @Logisticles replies that most people “can’t afford a $100 video game no matter how good it is.”
And this is that “woke garbage” thing. Because somebody had to get it in. @AdamFSocks says the game will be “age restricted because of upcoming EU laws,” which… okay, sure. Meanwhile, @JohnMadden020 (again) shut down the anti-woke crowd with, “When it’s 7 in the morning and you haven’t used the word woke yet today… what a sad life bro.” Savage.
Then production costs hit 1.5. That’s some MCU blockbuster movie territory. And if that is the case, then Rockstar is really going all in, which is obvious given how much money GTA V has made already. But @warcroft is not believing that. “Pachter still getting predictions wrong more often than not?” Good point.
Now, the real kick? The $10 billion lifetime revenue prediction. That’s Elon Musk money. But @MrWeeb96 isn’t really sold, tweeting, “You ain’t reaching that if ID is required for everything.” A valid concern, especially with the regulatory noise around gaming lately.
So, what’s the verdict? Pachter’s numbers will have some jaws drop, whereas other gamers will dispute it. Some are ready to throw their money at it, others call it their average, and some are just there for the drama. One thing we can promise-with the launch of GTA 6, the internet will permanently erupt. Is it worth $100? Well, that’s for another day.
