Just today, Genshin Impact released fresh brand-new weapons for the approaching Version Luna I. Naturally, Paimon was hard at work promoting it. The official team put on a brief show of these shiny new weapons and gave their stats at Level 90 at Rank 1 Refinement, along with teasing a daily granting of access to Weapon Ascension Material Domains for the first week of the Weapon Wish. Sounds exciting, eh? As per usual, the community had… some interesting opinions about it.

Let’s break it down. The weapons look nice, with names like Etherlight Spinlette – one player says it sounds good but actually has a pretty low ATK stat. The very excited ones shouted, “LOOKS AWESOMEEE HELLO????” along with a common refrain uttered among gacha-fandoms, “Too bad I don’t have enough primos for this 😔”. Mood. One user said, “God i love it sm” and called out the chorus-worthy little moon detail on the weapon. Aesthetic wins, always.

And then there are some in the other camp. What do I mean? More money. Wren went off on how fast Genshin is dropping characters and their signature weapons: “i dont think i can pull all char with their signature weapons with the speed genshin is dropping them.” Then: “My wallet is crying, again, all it does is cry.” Relatable content, for any soul riding gacha life.

Then all the “daily domain access” also earned some suspicion. Someone called it “resin prison grind in a new wrapper,” which is… honestly, fair. As a perk, it is nice, but it still is just the same damn resource grind at the end of the day. The usual QoL requests started popping up, like no skip button, artifact loadouts, and reserved resin in Honkai Star Rail. “you devs arent lisening at all” – oof.

The weapon banner was questioned, and again, another contrarian stomped with “Wuwa has no 50/50 on weapon banner! F off with this scam!”-Oh, the painful truth of the Genshin weapon banner pity is known to all. One answered it with a simple “Not interesting at all,” a feeling that tugs at any soul that’s been burned out from all the new releases.

Reactions notwithstanding, there was a good deal of love to hide behind. Some are contemplating the new weapon distributions already, with one stating “we will be using etherlight on lauma instead.” And the happiest of the bunch are simply glad to see new stuff, even if they can’t pull for it. “Please come home i don’t want another lamp for nahida 🥀” – so relatable; fearing the curse of off-banner weapons.

An empty lot of excitement, fatigue, and existential dread concerning one’s primo savings. The weapons look awesome; domain access is a cool little something, but the real core is… still not in players’ minds: ridiculous rates for gacha, annoying resin system, snail-paced new content. Whether you’re really feeling it or actually scared, Luna I is definitely putting a little something in your hands to play around with, so go farm those materials… again.

Right now, Paimon is pleased. “Hello, Traveler~!” she says from the corner where wallets are silently begging for mercy. Classic.
