A new Genshin Impact character has been teased by HoYoverse, which hence prompted the collective crying over Lauma-the evermoon sacral song. This Maiden of the Grove Dendro-wielding surely has some… let’s put it nicely- interesting design choices going under player scrutiny from implications on lore to some anatomy absurdities.
And with very verbose manner of speech, the official tweet introduced Lauma: “Under our Moonchanter’s most benevolent watch, no innocents or animals shall come to harm… sigh Or so I would like to say, but should the law of the jungle fall away, some sharp-fanged beasts will surely be starved the taste of flesh.” Fancy circling for what is basically a nature priestess with some sort of celestial vibes; they have a Moon Wheel element plus a Cerva Nivea constellation, to say the least.
But for a real note, nobody is talking about the lore. The comment section blew up in reactions across the spectrum-thirsty, horrified, and bie-depth. @krispocalypseee got straight to the point: “Why does she have such big boobs? ðŸ˜,” whereas @Ponycakies analyses feet, “Is it just me or is her big toe longer than the other toes compared to her other foot?” Genshin players are strange, though.
The character design has gotten quite an active discussion going in the comment section. Because of her looks, @poplipa declared, “we are all skipping her.” There was a quick good vibes chime-in from @Zeiren12. On the flip side, deep lore was brought up by @yuniwife, who said, “she is a fertility goddess lol,” which almost sounds like an excuse to justify everything. And really? In Genshin’s world, it sort of is.
Confusion creeps in even more so in light of her supposed elemental affiliation. Unlike the usual vision users, Lauma is anointed with not a Dendro vision but a “Moon Wheel,” thus spawning Theories of the moon god and non-archon governance. @AycSenpai tries explaining how visions work-but really, no one does, so just accept that anime-magic happens and colorful rocks appear.
Another hotly controversial topic is the timing of her release; @spritzeelee was apparently panicking over “FIRST HALF????,” while @Anjun0949973170 is convinced that she’s second half. On the opposite end is @hxvrid, who can only see the positives of it having more time to save primogems: “also no need to rush mats and artifacts!” Smart thinking there-worst feeling of rushing through scavenging mushrooms.
Overhyped are the pull plans from those who will definitely attempt to get her, with @f21001Z3 screaming, along the lines of, “AHHHH SHE’S SO PRETTY!! will do my best to get her!! <3,” whereas other characters like @chronicallygaga are just along for the drama, “ended everflop with easeðŸ¤.” The community remains divided-as always.
Another conspiracy was brought up by @tbybeer: “what if leakers are paid to get people hyped,” which… really, at this point, would not even be surprising. The whole Genshin leak economy is admittedly wilder than even the legit in-game economy.
And then the obligatory typo police came around.-@BKW_Oliver came in with “fall, not ‘falls'” because nothing escapes the grammar police of Teyvat. Then @ICeli2354 summed up a lot of reactions with a simple “What the fuck,” which honestly … mood.
Whether in it for lore, design, or just the yet unwarranted fan arts about to plaster all over the internet, the debut of Lauma has brought in waves. She is going to be bumped deep in the ranks of polarizing Genshin additions-probably deemed beautiful by some and outrageous by others, then spend the latter half of her existence debating until her gameplay finally hits.
Fan artists, for sure, are losing it. And the cosplay community? Well, they’re either excited or scared right at the moment. So probably a bit of both. That’s a safe bet for debate-will she be meta or eye candy?
