HoYoVerse dropped a huge new merch line in Amazon’s official store, and the community response could as well be deemed riotous. The comment section is one crazy riot, and so damn good. These plushie keychains and totes for that perfect sunny-day outfit really torment collectors, who are kidding themselves in their empty pockets.
The official account of Genshin Impact made the big announcement. They revealed the Teyvat Zoo Themed Plushie Keychains for five designs. Keychains carry characters named Kachina, Lyney, Lynette, Neuvillette, and Ororon, going onto become your new besties for backpacks. And, the half is nowhere close to any of the fulls. Kinich Impresion Series would be showing the orange work vest, the bladeless neck fan, and a two-layer short necklace that promises to keep you cool this summer-something.
Then, for some more collector’s charm, we have the ever-elusive Hu Tao 1/7 Scale Figure in stock (shockingly), finally dropping the second batch of the Inazuma City Series Chibi Action Figure for Raiden Shogun. The special promotional price will always last from August 21st until August 31st, 2025, as stated in the tweet, infinite now but hey, props for the advanced notice.
Now, this is the juicy bit. Yet, the player reactions to such a drop have been utterly waxing and waning. Another user called Lumia exclaimed, “@GenshinImpact you had to put out that neuvillette item and im broke noooooo ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜” this was just the moment. The struggle of wanting cute merch against having actual cash is way too real.
Then there’s the classic “where is my favorite character’s merch” with users such as yaoi miko asking “@GenshinImpact Where is the new Ayato merch please” and BunniesPechie asking for news on Navia merch. All character mains seem to have come out of the woodwork to demand recognition for themselves. Chongyun mains did not get left behind either: “@GenshinImpact and the chongyun skin merchandise?” Damn, everyone’s asking for their favorite merch treatment.
But there’s a real scandal around Neuvillette and Ororon. Some comments there even suggested these two weren’t even in stock for real while being listed in the announcement. One user, neuvillettefan0, outright called them out with “@GenshinImpact Neuvillette isn’t listed as available!” and promptly followed by fang0utt with “@GenshinImpact I DONT SEE ORORON” – honestly, all the vibes of false advertising.
That one, of course, is also causing the regular issues of regional availability. Mariano Artificio questioned “@GenshinImpact Still US only?” while Rei further “@GenshinImpact No shop for Europe yet…?” really having this ongoing gripe on Genshin merch distribution. The usual stuff: US first stupidly followed by other regions with a month or more delay or worse, never.
Some replies were just pure unhinged energy. The user crimson left the stage with weird laughter, saying “@GenshinImpact Hahahahahahahahaha funny hahahahahaah hah h hhhhahahha hahha hahah Hahah Haha its time to hear you sing,” like… what does that even mean? And miles/mydei just lost it with “@GenshinImpact ITS SO CUTE IM GONNA ” – self-censorship that we all know didn’t hold much.
Then some stuff about Kinich set off some players who are awaiting the character rerun. User jd said”@GenshinImpact SO WHEN IS THE KINICH RERUN,” This then sparked an entire thread on whether Kinich just had a banner or not. Merchandise causing character availability debates is next-level stuff.
Then there’s your classic gamer entitled moment, with the user phi saying “@GenshinImpact you should send me the hu tao figure for free just saying” like yeah okay, multi-billion dollar company should definitely just give you expensive collectibles for free because… reasons?
But what is really interesting is this merchandise drop as a mirror into the current popular or just very well supported characters. The insight behind selecting these particular five characters for the keychains says something about which Fontaine characters are resonating with the players. Neuvillette especially seems to have a big support gig going on given how many were excited about his merchandise.
The timing is also fairly strategic-dumping summer merch right when everybody is starting to think about summer activities even though the actual promo period is way out in 2025. It’s smart marketing, really-getting people excited well in advance so they can budget or something.
But the real takeaway here is just how much players care about physical merchandise for the game. As in, the emotional responses range from pure excitement to a genuine frustrated cry for availability. It is not about the game anymore; it is about putting their favorite characters into real-world merch of one kind or another-keychains, clothes, or collectables.
The community-level relationship with Genshin Impact has far fetched beyond just playing the game. People want to embroider it into their everyday life by means of merch, and when these merch are not available or asked for their favorite characters, they genuinely get upset. It really is heart-warming to see the extent of attachment this free-to-play game has managed to form, where people can spend real money buying physical stuff corresponding to digital characters.
At the end of the day, this merch drop speaks to HoYoVerse knowing exactly what they’re doing in terms of monetizing player attachments. They’re not just selling in-game items anymore; they’re selling pieces of the game world players physically can own and put on display. Judging by the reactions, these players can’t wait to throw money at it-on all the complaints about regional availability notwithstanding.
