Alright, dear people, strap yourselves in for the announcement of the year by Geoff Keighley! Gamescom Opening Night Live will take place next Tuesday, and the news is quite enough to fill your heart. The show will be aired at 8 p.m. CEST (2 p.m. ET if you’re of the American East Coast); in case you’ve got a heartbeat and can possibly muster an ounce of interest in games, you’ve got to be there.
The announced catch? Ah, hardly anything called Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 by Activision, and the tired-ass promise of Resident Evil Requiem from Capcom. These were the only few warrants. We all know there will be surprises.
The reaction? Expecting absolute pandemonium, to be? Some gamers are already working on plans to ditch their jobs (shout-out to @berryajs__12 for the painful struggle), and some… have not been happy with Black Ops 7 (@Eldergloom_, that is on you). And now the Resident Evil fans must be melting down—@ThePoppinGamer3 is already buzzing from the excitement, and so am I.
Some downright funny and worthy fantastic tweets come from the Jurassic Park Survival hopefuls. @vnf70 and @Kai49431731 are out there begging for a little dino action, and honestly? Mood. I’m saying if we go through this show without at least one good T-Rex jumpscare, then what’s the point?
Oh, hold on, take a deep breath; we have to enjoy @cyraxall’s… unique take on co-streaming: “I’d rather co-stream my ball torture collection.” Sir, this is a Wendy’s.
The Sonic dudes (yes, they do exist) continued the hope for news on Sonic Racing Crossworlds, which SEGA should listen to and give them a bone.
Meanwhile, the Kingdom Hearts fans (@MMirmb1) are standing around waiting for any scrap of KH4 news as if its second coming. Square Enix, please.
Still, the real question remains: will Keighley finally put an end to Silksong rumors? @ContinuousGojo, begging, “No clownery,” but let’s be honest…we’ll all be disappointed again, won’t we?
So, get out your calendars, activate your alarms, and maybe call in sick for a little bit of daring. Gamescom Opening Night Live is either going to be one of the “I was there” moments or, at the least, an outright excuse for piling on some junk food come Tuesday.
Registration is live now (link in Geoff’s tweet), so grab it if you want to co-stream. Or, y’know, you can just watch like a normal person. Either way, see you there.
(And Geoff, if you are reading this…please give us Jurassic Park Survival. Please.)
