Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, has just released two new showcase events and the gaming community is already going mad about it. They’ve also officially announced the collaborations with The Terrifier and Repo, which means that some really disturbing and controversial character skins will be available in the item shop. This entire scenario is the perfect mix for the horror-fanatic players and also for those who find the oddest things in Fortnite amusing.

What really came up with Epic Games? The major leak posted by ShiinaBR simply mentions “TERRIFIER & REPO SHOWCASES OUT NOW” along with a link to view them. People who are somewhat unaware of the Terrifier series should, however, know that the super creepy and murderous clown from the cult horror movies, Art the Clown, is the central character. And Repo? Well, that’s where the thing becomes a little complicated. The Repo partnership seems to revolve around ballot collectors and maybe something of the sort. Fortnite is really crossing all the boundaries, and its theme is such a daring one!

The community has reacted with nothing less than extreme hysteria. Not all players are happy with the new Fortnite additions, while on the other hand, some are super excited, like Frank who labeled the new skins as “pure gold” and Tomi Point who just wrote “Looks cool!” with the typical understated excitement. But then there is the other side of the coin – or rather the other side of the battle bus.

ChrisTheKing44 did not mince his words and came out candidly with his opinion stating “the repo collab is so fuckin stupid. Who tf is going to be running around with those dumbass goofy looking skins?” and to be honest, it’s hard to argue with that. I mean, are we really going to see people faking repo agents while building 90s? It’s definitely a bold choice.

Meanwhile, replies are overflowing with “prices please” for the other collaborations. Huggy Wuggy from Poppy Playtime, for instance, is a character that many people are asking about, e.g., AzurMr is directly asking “Where is Huggy?” and vivigrl3 is expressing her wish “Huggy Wuggy gets decrypted soon too!” Besides that, Ghostface, Looney Tunes (Leo suggested “they can definitely do Looney Tunes!!!”), and even Ronald McDonald skins requests are coming in – which has actually been commented upon by McDonald’s official account, which is either very smart marketing or highly concerning corporate behavior, perhaps it’s both.

There are also quite funny comments regarding the confusion about release dates. Several people seem to be confusing the day of the showcase with when the skins will actually be put on the market for purchase. Max had to tell another user “It says the showcase” when they asked about the availability. Kingdom95_2 simply asked “Art release date?” while TheCobraKaiHaw1 wanted to know “What Days are Terrifier and Wednesday releasing?” revealing that multiple collabs are happening at the same time and everyone is trying to keep up with them.

And the hype is indeed getting bigger and bigger. phbrttt was practically begging “I NEED THEM PLEASEEEEE RELEASE THEM TONGIHTRRR” which I assume means tonight although who knows when you’re that hyped. TJ. was asking “I WANNA SEE THE REPO SKIN DO AN EMOTE” which, one can argue, is absolutely the same thing. It would either be incredibly awkward or very funny.

What is quite fascinating though is the constant mixing up of the horror characters with… well, whatever Repo is supposed to stand for in Fortnite’s case. We had Michael Myers, we had Alien, and now we have Art the Clown next to what seems like the regular guys getting their living by taking back the cars that miss payments. The fluctuation in the tone is quite apparent but it is also one of the reasons that Fortnite is so different and so uniquely Fortnite.

Having now the showcases means that gamers can see the skins, perhaps even view some gameplay, and then decide how they want to spend their V-Bucks when these are actually put on the item shop shelf. Based on the feedback given by the players, Terrifier has the biggest role in drawing the crowd for very clear reasons – Art the Clown is quite scary indeed and he can effortlessly mix up with the horror department of Fortnite that is growing. The Repo skins? Well, they are definitely… a choice. But then, it is said that variety is the spice of life.

As for when exactly these skins will be out for purchase, that remains unclear for now. The showcases are already open to visitors but the products have not been put in the store yet. Given the huge demand and the mixed reactions, Epic Games has once more pulled off a great job of getting people talking about its game. No matter if you are excited about the likelihood of Art the Clown hunting you or puzzled as to why repo men have a place in a battle royale, one thing is for sure – Fortnite always knows how to keep things interesting. Now, if you would be so kind as to give me the opportunity, I would like to go watch these showcases and see for myself whether I want to feel scared or confused during my next gaming session on PlayStation or Xbox.
