So, Fortnite craziness never really stops. Just when you think they’ve tapped every legit collab out there-from Marvel to Star Wars to Family Guy-a new secret collab is actually being prepared for an update. And the entire community is losing their minds, trying to figure out what that might be.
It all began when leaker ShiinaBR dropped a tweet that was really more of a tease: “At least one more secret collab is expected in the next update 👀” along with a credit to another leaker, SamLeakss. And that was all she wrote. But ahhh, all it took was for Twitter to ignite in speculations, players throwing wild guesses quicker than you can say ‘item shop refresh.’
So what are they really hoping for or predicting? All of them, violently machined together and scattered heedless of order. Let us break some of these down, because some are downright funny and others are just ding-ding-ding-perfect.
Right off the bat came the first reply from Angel Thunder Miranda: “My picks is either Helldivers 2 or Starship Troopers.” Now, alright, that would be insane. Imagine dropping in-Helldivers-style-spreadmanaged democracy with the liberator rifle pickaxe. That would sit so well with the current vibe, more so considering how enormous that game is.
Then Aiden comes along and just says, “it’s One Punch Man.” No explanation, just confidence. And you know what? I wouldn’t even be surprised. Fortnite has done anime collabs before, and Saitama just casually punching his way through the lobby would be both terrifying and amazing.
The suggestions would keep coming and get more and more disjointed. Peacemaker from the DC universe kept getting multiple shout-outs; one lone player even begged with a gif of John Cena doing his dance. Which is just a great idea – we need that helmet back bling, Epic. Make it happen.
Then you’ve got the go-to: “Mega Man X and Zero!” shout: that has long been a dream of many retro gamers. And, of course, Metal Gear Solid fanboys are not giving up yet: one user even posted a picture of Snake with the caption, “It must be Metal Gear.” Real dedication.
Now things get even weirder. Or more awesome, depending on your perspective. Someone puts out “Beavis and Butthead,” which is… a choice. Another person hopes for a YouTuber collab, specifically DashieXP. Then we’ve got the person who just lists “Yakuza, Persona 5, Kasane Teto,” as if ordering from a menu. A very specific, cultured menu.
Jurassic Park mention would be epic for a dinosaur season. Another anime call-out would be Hokuto No Ken (Fist of the North Star). There was even a hopeful comment for Demon Slayer with the thought of a new movie coming pretty soon. Time checks out, honestly.
The Helldivers 2 contingent is hardcore, and they ain’t kidding. One reply was just “HELLDIVERS HELLDIVERS HELLDIVERS” repeated approximately 12 times, accompanied by crying emojis-the passion is real. I feel it.
But at the height of all this hype, someone just has to rain on everyone’s parade. Brave_Tsubasa retorts, “And of course, it’s not Persona. Again.” Oof. The angst of the Persona fans waiting for Joker to hit the item shop is audible. It’s slowly becoming a running joke at this point, like Half-Life 3.
What makes it even funnier is how these guesses bounce off each other in the replies. Some people are agreeing, disagreeing, posting memes, or gifs as responses: it’s an ecosystem of hype and desperation. One thread even morphs into a discussion about Dead by Daylight cosmetics, which, I kid you not, is totally unserious and IT’S SO on-brand for gaming Twitter.
So, digestion of all of that? Well, basically, what has shaped its players is not to expect what’s expected. A crossover from any corner of pop culture can WAKE UP its update. Gaming, movies, anime, music, streamers, it is a free-for-all now. That is what makes it so exciting to check Twitter after a leak drops. Half of the fun is this collective guessing.
Is it Helldivers? Probably a long shot but would cause an internet meltdown. One Punch Man? Maybe. Epic does love anime collabs. Peacemaker? Good opportunity considering the new season. Or it could be something that no one has ever actually thought about. Normally, that’s the case.
All we know is that something’s definitely coming. And the Fortnite community will be there to celebrate or cry about it mere seconds after it hits the announcement. And thus the loop continues. But until then, we wait. And guess. And maybe, just maybe, weiler for that Helldivers stratagem emote. For managed democracy.
Anyways, that’s the latest. The next update definitely has eyes on it and has a good chance of surprising you with whatever you’ll be grinding. Could. Be. Anything.
