Yet another potential lineup of Fortnite skins has again been teased for players in a survey recently conducted by Epic Games, and the whole community is running amok. For once, it seems to be legitimate. The leak spotted by none other than @PikminPanda99 and illustrated by decorator @iannzits reveals a wild variety of concepts, ranging from robotic dinos to what I am assuming is an annihilator spryte in a mech suit. Yeah. You heard me.
First thing’s first; we should probably talk about what exactly we see here. These survey skins are basically an idea-testing method for Epic – they put forth several concepts for the players to choose from, depending on which ideas get the most positive responses from the community. In general, the more overwhelming the positive response, the greater the possibilities of the concepts actually making it into the item shop in the not-so-distant future-all of this, of course, without guaranteeing a real skin. Judging by the reactions, the consumers seem on their way about to throw every V Buck they have straight onto the screen.
One user, @LinIsCrazy, basically screamed “OMG I WANT ALL THE LADIES!” pretty much with the same sentiment. Another user, @KiNGaGGy, followed suit with another cash offer, “Take my money,” with a crying emoji-well, same here. The hype is real; @blueshade_fn says YOOOOO, @dojaliagoth follows with “literally been waiting for her since like June please god…” So, some of these designs have been sitting on anticipated lists for well over a couple of months.
But it is not hype alone; curiosity and concern-anchor were attached to it. @thechiefquimby brought up the real question: “Do surveys mean they will definitely produce them as skins, or are they literally just potential concepts for skins (which might never be developed)?” And that’s a good question. Epic has a habit of throwing out ideas either that never really come to the light or that rightly get butchered through bad 3D modeling. @CptPikmin echoed that concern, saying, “I’ll be upset when the 3d artists inevitably fuck up that scorpion chick.”Oof. Felt that.
Some highlight concepts are a T-Rex skin that @vvLOKIvv said was an “automatic buy” because his son loves dinosaurs. So cute! Then you have the chess piece designs, with @EthanByrd09 predicting that if those Queen and King skins drop, “they going to be EXTREMELY sweaty,” and yes, I doubt there will be a single sweaty player that likes anything that looks intimidating or strategic.
And let’s discuss the lore implications for a moment? @EggsAndBacon89 and @LinIsCrazy had an entire thread speculating that some designs could mean characters “survived whatever the bugs did to them,” which is pretty deep for Fortnite lore buffs. It is crazy just how much story players can infer from just a few concept images.
That said, of course, not everyone will be running to drop every single cent on these skins. @Paradox00766 joked, “Can’t wait to see them butcher 50% of these,” and that pessimism can at least be justified given the past. @Unh, meanwhile, cried “Darn was hoping to see a new Kimiko,” which expresses that even with a ton of new concepts at hand, some players are still clinging onto the ones before.
Everything here spells variety, running the gamut from fantasy warriors to futuristic mechanical constructs and to a couple of adorable little guys whom @PhantomEnderium dubbed as REVENGE OF LIL GUY and hyped up in a video. Epic certainly seems to be after everyone’s tastes, and judging by the reaction so far, I think they’ve hit the cue for many.
So, what comes next? Given what has happened before with these survey concepts, you would expect some of these to go into development with a hope for release into the game in the next season. I’m sure until that time, all players will be doing is throwing around guesses, dreaming, and, yes, hoarding V-Bucks because when these arrive, it’s going to be all-out war in the item shop.
So strap in, Fortnite fans. Your premier skin could very well be tucked in there somewhere, and you’re going to want to be quick on the uptake when it drops into the item shop. Or, you know, get ready to complain when the 3D renders botch it all up. Either way, it’ll be the start of something.
