Some sweet news greeted Fortnite fans today: the Kehlani emote made its recent return to the Item Shop.
After such an absence that felt like an eternity, the emote’s sudden return into the rotation barely gave the community a moment to air their emotions- some were overjoyed, some were salty, and some were just confused.
In true minimalist style, HYPEX had to fuel the hype with a tweet: “KEHLANI EMOTE RETURNS FOR THE 1st TIME,” with a link to grab it. The reply section? Crazy as one would imagine. Of course, some were excited: @CrimsonRaiderXV joined in quick gifting it to those who missed out the first time. Some were harsh, though: @tacosoys said it was the “Worst emote EVER.” And then there were those who wanted to find out when the Balenciaga skin was coming back-because that is the priority!
That dance has got to go! It has that elite dopeness that each emote needs to have to compete with the many Fortnite already has. But hey, some just weren’t feeling it. @WukLamatHater69 threw shade at the game for its recent wave of TikTok dances: “The tiktokification of the emotes in this game needs to be studied.” On the other hand, @johnweb3adeo didn’t hold back his words, calling it “Another OG emote ruined,” basically cementing that somebody is going to complain either way Epic does.
Way back in its heyday, of course, no dramas would ever rise around this emote. At the time, the players were more concerned about complaining about what wasn’t in the shop. @needycomgrl still wanted the mine emote; @lisaoryx begged for the Enhypen emote to return; meanwhile, @PoepyCallaLives just wanted Jinx and Resident Evil! The struggle is so real when your fave is not in rotation.
…And then came the gifts requests. The gift requests. @zbuxcks straight told HYPEX, “please gift me it”; meanwhile, @onlywithangel_ was begging somebody to rescue them with a gift: “The Weeknd skin.” One could literally cut our desperation with a knife.
Then it wasn’t all bad, for once. @DreamySenora simply exclaimed, “Nice she’s so cool,” and @OmegaTeamEnjoyr said, “Perfect for me.” So they were some people happy with it.
Really, what’s next? A never-ending demand for new content (or for a return of previous content), which makes for a busy working life for Epic. Will the Balenciaga skin ever come back? Will the mine emote ever see the light of day? More importantly, will there ever be a day when the hype and disappointment take a backseat?
One thing’s for sure: items in the Fortnite Item Shop will really keep you on your toes! Of course, the Kehlani emote is back. So, all in all, the community now has something to chew on. Alright, now excuse me, will check if I can get somebody to gift me before the shop resets again.
