Is it not the case that the Fortnite community is going absolutely mad in search of the game’s characters Kang and Kodos? Like, matches have become the only way the community has to check these alien twins from The Simpsons. A reliable leaker, ShiinaBR, now gives a scoop on that topic which the community won’t stop discussing. Epic has allegedly done a 5% increase to the spawn rate of Kang and Kodos.
The part with the confusion is that the change is only internal for now. The code does contain the increased spawn rate, however, Epic has not yet activated the event flag, which turns everything on. So, in a sense, they have prepared for the alien invasion but have not yet set it off. This explains why players like Porcupine326 tweeted the phrase “I STILL CANT SEE IT” along with a crying emoji.
It is indeed a strange situation; players know that the spawn rate is higher but they are just not able to benefit from it. One player, TTVDabbing123, expressed his feelings of frustration with the very same issue: “BRUH, I’ve just tried for the last 15 minutes to get it.” Some other players have begun to ponder if it is at all worth the trouble trying to see the aliens if they spawn at all. CharlieWatford9 was of the opinion that “there is no need, just finish game” while the other party argued that you might as well leave during the battle bus if you are really only going to check.
Mixed reactions have come from all over about the 5% spawn rate. Some players are of the opinion that it is pretty reasonable – dexterrbuilds simply said “That’s not bad” while LB_Luckyboy called it “awesome.” Conversely, there are players like genwealth_eth who stated that “5% spawning rate is wild actually you will never see them unless you play all day 😔 and this seems to be a very accurate statement if you think about it. I mean, the odds are that you might see them in 1 out of 20 matches, but with Fortnite’s RNG, who knows?
Moreover, there are whispers of the spawn rate being too low. bmsquamtum suggested “Would be nicer with a 10% spawn rate” and slotslv confirmed “5% still feels kinda low.” On the flip side, the community is waiting to find out when this feature is going live. User maximeryk asked the question that was on everyone’s mind: “Like, is this already going on or just an internal thing?” and PureMassacre89 wanted to know “Is it already happening? Like, if I log in and play, do I have a chance to see this happening?”
It is absolutely understandable that such confusion exists because when a leaker puts out something like this, it’s often hard to tell what is live in the game and what is just sitting in the files waiting for activation. And given Fortnite’s history of surprise updates and events, it literally could happen at any time. Porcupine326 expressed it for the whole community: “They have to enable it soon; I must see Kang and Kodos at least once.”
Interestingly enough, this might not be the only leak of Fortnite concerning The Simpsons that is waiting to be discovered. User DougSully04, for example, reminded us “that Teto leak has a ninety percent chance of not being real?” showing the extent of speculation and the quantity of unverified information that revolves around Epic whenever they are planning something. The community is almost taking up the position of detectives with every tiny bit of information that comes out.
The whole situation with Kang and Kodos is typical of the manner in which Fortnite interacts with time-limited events and collaborations. They build the hype, make changes internally and then wait for a chance to amaze the crowd when they eventually switch everything on. It is as if a never-ending cycle has been set up whereby players are constantly checking in the game and, thus the community is always involved as sharing sightings and experiences has become the norm.
However, for now, players will just have to be sharp and maybe a bit lucky when Epic decides to turn on that secret event flag. The spawn rate has been increased, it is already there in the code, and it is just waiting to be turned on so that aliens can be encountered somewhat more frequently. But as long as that turn on does not happen, Kang and Kodos will still be the hardest characters to find in the battle royale universe. It is just another typical day in the very dynamic world of the battle royale game that is adored by all, where anything can happen at literally any moment. The game is available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
