Epic Games has been mixing Fortnite with some Marvel vs. Capcom style K-Pop Demon Hunters from The Haunted World of Azazel in a crazy collaboration. The skins for Zoey, Rumi, and Mira have been leaked by iFireMonkey, and the window is opened for some serious exchanges of opinion among the players.

An early look even at lowest grade of opinion will be a glimpse into the valley of the rising community: Some of the people actually like the designs. One of the players, kdh fan, outright said, “They looks AMAZING!!! Especially mira, ik ppl have dont rlly like rumi’s looks but who cares ima cop either way.” Somewhere on the spectrum lies a dedication like that. Another player of the same kind of dedication, Israel Tinajero, also just uttered, “Love them🧡,” so you know they’re vibing with that.

And another opinion lies across the coin. Crushdat5874 said, “Looks weird. Need to see them in game first.” Meanwhile, Bromega 🐓 kept it real by saying, “Honest opinion, never watched the movie, never had interest in them, they ain’t for me.” Sometimes you just know what you like and what you don’t, you know?

That price also gets people in, apparently. As someone had said, “Only thing that disappoints me is how much they will likely cost”–which, yeah, that goes for all Fortnite collabs these days anyway. Then comes Winterfest, and everyone is wondering whether to drop V-Bucks; if these gigantic K-Pop demon hunters are worthy enough.

Talking about Winterfest, time is also in.issue. Omar Al-Koush had said: “These are all Winterfest lol. Ngl fnmares seems tough to beat plus ill just be getting a bunch of vbucks from the bps before winterfest.” On the opposite side, Batbob said, “Save vbucks for winter😊,” stating “Frozen Grinch and etc” as possible wallet-competitors.

That’s really interesting- how divided the players still are on the actual design options. Esmy♡ stated plainly: “Disappointed cause they really messed up Rumi and Zoey,” I’ll accept that hard. On the contrary, Bboycosta424 gave a rather specific statement: “They should’ve been the black battle outfits they had on when they first went to fight the Saja Boys.” That’s real deep knowledge of the source material.

Alternative styles have much talk. Damiel (Evie) and Fortfeber talked about how it would be a huge fumble if they didn’t add the Golden style or even Rumi’s demon form.” Basically, players really want those transformational moments from the movie to be represented in the game. Vappy The Vaporeon pretty much concurred, stating it would be “litttt” to “swap between the outfits.”

Now, let’s discuss the midarriors. Ricardo Santos questioned, “Where si The soda pop guys ???” While xCtrl_Walt_Delx was hoping for the “Saja Boys” for possible “wave 2” release. 0shieteYo_ was most hopeful for “Jinu at least for wave 1 since he is a deuteragonist or a co-protag.” Those guys certainly know their K-Pop Demon Hunter lore.

The worldwide community samples have cast their vote. Some conversation in German asserts The Order: “Epic hat wirklich gute Arbeit geleistet, die sehen echt original getreu aus,” which means “Epic really did good work, they look really authentic.” So in some sections at least the accuracy is being praised.

Then there is the return to the gamers, like Jaffxe: “Gonna be completely honest. I don’t give a flying fuck. I’d rather have a bug fix/QoL update.” Sometimes you just want the game to actually work for once instead of having new skins. Fair enough.

What remains obvious is that Epic continues to push the limits with these collaborations, mixing pop culture in ways no one expected. K-Pop demon hunters in a battle royale? Why not, apparently. The designs seem to be hitting that sweet spot of being recognizable to fans while still fitting the Fortnite aesthetic, though not everyone is convinced.

As per MattiBlvd, “The translation to fortnite is very impressive.” Which is basically how most players feel about Epic being able to adapt these properties. So even if you didn’t like the specific collab, you gotta give props for the craftsmanship.

So where does that leave us? Another very divisive collab that some players will buy without a second thought, others will reserve their V-Bucks for Winterfest. Arguing about who isn’t there and their alternative style fixes. The ever-present “need more skins or bug fixes” when their expedience matters. Ergo, just another Fortnitan day. K-Pop Demon Hunters are arriving, bare or willing and will surely be in players’ conversations for some time.
