Another one for you-fewer music-themed dance moves morphing into an Item Shop attraction from this point on. The last drop, honoring Avicii, basically announces the expiry date of those dance moves, and the reactions have probably ranged…well, on the spectrum between mixed.

Epic Games would release one ICON emote each day, maintaining the tradition in the Item Shop dedicated section. These emotes were backed by hit songs and artists, just too much-agent of a craze or source of irritation for the poor players. Now with the daily ritual gone, some will grieve for the loss, while others will rejoice.

A pretty good summary was provided by a player: @whistlingbird18. “Thank goodness. It was too much. Most of them aren’t even good. Quality over quantity.” And honestly? He’s basically correct. While some of the emotes, for instance, “Tribulations” and “Sandstorm,” were certainly great emotes, others fell into that category of… well, forgettable. @SolarSocks_ was brutally honest about it: “Tribulations and Sandstorm were the only good ones lmfao.” Ouch.

But others were not ready to give up on this. @Toney1899 loudly yelled out “NOOOOO WE NEED MORE,” while @VampBarbiee go into somewhat of a full panic: “Stopppp there’s an Avicii emote? Need to sign in now.” Real FOMO.

Those who missed it got some somewhat hard news from @McKe6664: “It’s already been in shop. If you didn’t get it then, you may not have another chance.” So, RIP to those Avicii fans that were sleeping on it.

Moving forward, some seem already to be putting that in their past. @TaylorAnne0927 chimed in, “Any update on JJK skins? Just curious 😭,” because, well, the Fortnite hype-train never stops. @Thhnderbolt breathed a sigh of relief: “Finally, can we get some good original emotes now? I’m getting tired of constant ICON emotes every day. I don’t even use TikTok.” Legitimate point—how many of us have surrendered to this TikTok dance craze?

Now comes the real tea… What are people thinking could be the reasons Epic may have stopped the daily ICON emotes? One of them being just too much. @Monstonia did some math: “8 x 500 = 4,000. 4,000 V-Bucks is nearly $40 worth of emotes in 8 days. It’s expensive if you collect, and most of them are shit anyways.” Yikes. Now from the good one’s perspective, anyway, it made a lot of sense for players to say, “I’m tired of this.”

What goes from here? With the ICON emote section being thrown away, the players pretty much expect either just original content now or better rotations. @_UrBankAccount_ left a comment: “It was fun while it lasted. Hoped to get some fresh new ones tomorrow.” Now at least, the memories shall live on (intended, @NexusYear).

Basically, the good and bad will not admit it, but the ICON emotes held sway at some point: the waits for some glitzy new Fortnite drop again as we know Epic has something wicked coming up. It’s a bittersweet goodbye to the Avicii emote; some felt it overstayed its welcome, and some were begging for more!
