Epic Games dropped two new items in the item shop, and players’ reactions are… well, they vary. The alleged news are that currently, you can get Chani from Dune and a fresh Madcap style. Also, if you want to buy for the first time on the web, there is an item for free with your purchase; go ahead!
Replies to ShiinaBR’s tweet? Well, it were an anarchic time. The community is an amazing blend of excitement, confusion, and outright frustration. Jade6lack has raised their fair question already: “Where’s Travis Scott,” given the collab’s tremendous popularity. As for skins that still don’t show up in the shop, this is where the chatter increased.
Everyone’s hyped about the new Madcap style. Nice to see tgraybird commenting, “W madcap style.” Some came in hard with the opposite view, saying, “Dune sucks, and the new Madcap style has BEEN out.” Now, that’s an opinion. Not everybody will smile at every release-whether here or there in the live-service games sphere.
There’s another drama unfolding around missing skins. Throwing names like Ash, Evie, and Afterburn, who supposedly is a Supernova skin that hasn’t been released yet. KINGX_55 and strawbryymiilk went back and forth about how the leakers get to flex skins early and then Epic holds them from everyone else. It is punching some awkward tension as players now know what’s on the horizon but will have to wait forever.
What about the shop complaints? SakuraNyx called it an “L Shop,” saying they already had Chani and the rest weren’t special. Meanwhile, fornitesongoku was blaming item shops for the low player count, along with map changes and reskins. That’s a lot to put on the cosmetic shop but hey, players have strong opinions.
There’s some positivity with Waffles pointing out that “Glowing mushroom looks good” and PalmAuraX saying, “The left one is amazing.” Not everything is negative. With some actually buying the items, SuperSonicBeams stated, “I just bought them,” so it’s working for a segment of the player base.
The free-item promo is also fetching questions: KR0N1K17 asked, “What’s the free item for first web purchase, is it that banana back bling?” Players interested in the bonuses yet clearly not getting a straight answer on what they actually get.
Here’s the interesting thing: That just goes to highlight the continuing rift between the release schedule of the Fortnite players and Epic. Players see that leakers show content that doesn’t actually show up in the shop for sometimes weeks, sometimes months, and that anticipation sometimes turns into sour anger. The “where is X skin” comments are flying all over the place, indicating that while new content is dropping, they are still waiting on things they’ve been expected to see for a while.
Also worth noting-the code “Shiina” to support the leaker? That’s becoming somewhat common as these Fortnite leaker accounts have support codes. It’s like a whole economy around leaking content, which is kinda wild when you think about it.
Nonetheless, Fortnite content will always be met with a mixed reception. Some players will thoroughly enjoy the new Dune collab and Madcap style while others will be eagerly waiting for their own favourite skin to finally make an appearance. With every rotation, the item shop is loaded with rotating, and leaks are on their heels.
The release of Chani and the new Madcap style does what every Fortnite update does best: it gives players something new to talk about while reminding them of what they are still awaiting. This is an eternal cycle of live service gaming and an item shop rotation that the Fortnite community lives every single time.
