If you’ve been keeping an eye on the Fortnite item shop and felt like something is wrong, now you know the reason behind it. The Adventure Time gang is here, along with the “cartoon people” of Fortnite. They’ve got a Fortnite skin pack, and with it the game now features Finn, Jake, Marceline, and even Princess Bubblegum!
Of course, this returns for a reason. Epic is offering a free item to show their appreciation for your first purchase with their unique web portal. Their portal directs you to the “web store” which is like a special shop page where you can get the skins and a bonus for shopping through it, rather than through the traditional Fortnite shop.
There’s more to look forward to though — the players are already going crazy in the comments. For instance, one of the users, @NeganForDbD, instantly bought Marceline and shared a screenshot. Then there’s @PinkGirlEnergy, who is asking for more Adventure Time-styled skins. Personally, I really want those too.
While most are excited for their favorite cartoons to return, some are not as thrilled. For example, @joaoroque02 said “I prefer anime, not cartoons,” which is a perfectly valid opinion, but still, Adventure Time is iconic. Then there is @Broxcky, who called the show “the most forgettable show.” Even though it is blatantly false, some people like to troll.
The most entertaining things are the comments about EVERYTHING ELSE. For example, @celesteheron1 is asking for launch dates for Beavis and Butt-Head. Someone with the handle @hammerdog13 is asking for Dexter, and like three other people are asking for polo skins, which I literally have no idea why Fortnite players care about polo shirts.
Oh, and the strange Hulk comments? @mr_mackerel1 is wondering if Hulk received an update and when is he coming back. ‘Bro, we’re talking about cartoons right now,’ but sure.
My favorite HAS to be @PACMANITEMSHOP, who apparently needs to yell every hour in Fortnite that “PAC-MAN IS NOT BACK IN THE FORTNITE ITEM SHOP 🔥” as if they’re a PAC-MAN emergency broadcast system, which is hilarious to me.
What is actually interesting is the sheer number of people flaunting the skins. “Already own finn and jake,” said @oileduptonysopr, but then wondered if the price shown was some sort of glitch discount?? Then admitted to being on the verge of purchasing “two girl skins ill never use” which like… same energy as buying battle pass skins you’ll never actually equip but gotta collect them all right?
The timing is perfect, especially given that Adventure Time has once again gained popularity, so Epic looks to be capitalizing on the trend. Add to that the clever marketing of the free bonus item for purchasing through the web store.
Also can we appreciate how everyone calls them “cartoon people” like they’re the most beloved characters from modern animation? @PriceOmir just said “Cartoon people ??” which, honestly, same reaction.
What’s next? Asking for Ben 10 for the 20th anniversary this December is @celesteheron1, and I feel that would bring the absolute heat. They also put forward the idea of including Samurai Jack, Mordecai, and Johnny Bravo, and now I need these all in Fortnite immediately.
The shop rotations have been kinda strange recently because, as @ArmaniMikelson mentioned, the “today’s best sellers” section has gone missing since the Deep Rock Galactic stuff dropped. Maybe, just maybe, it has something to do with testing a new shop layout and is a Deep Rock Galactic conspiracy.
By the way, if you missed the Adventure Time skins, now is the ideal time to claim them since there’s a free item offer. Utilizing the web store link to make your first purchase will grant you something extra, and the offer doesn’t stop at skins — if you want to help content creators, applying creator codes like “Shiina” will grant them a percentage of the purchase.
No one does crossovers as well as Fortnite; seriously, where else can you have Finn and Jake alongside Marvel heroes and NFL players, all battling together? Only Fortnite pulls off this. Only Fortnite.
What was I saying? Right, cartoons! Devices in flames! The cartoon people are back. Go get them while they so popular!
