While some meteor might have been dropped by Epic Games, or might have been spilled by someone else about the actual key art of the so-called Fortnite Reload map, the commotion is all over the Internet going in now. The image shared via Twitter by user @qKuafn features what looks like a new high-octane battleground lit with neon colors, riddled with industrial junk, and boasting possible gigantic underground tunnels. But there are no confirmations yet, the vibe? Chaos at its best.
So what’s the big deal? Fortnite has made the complete transformations into events, rather than updates, when they occur-everyone treats them like some seasonal holiday-conspiracy theory, analysis, and, of course, the classic “the old maps are better” arguments. Now this leak seems to suggest that Reload isn’t just going to be a chill this time-around-in-so-the-so-called “cryptic” of late from Epic. Dropping a trailer that is probably just a planned event-the silence feels almost like premeditated.
It is quite strange, however, that the original tweet has no comments at all. Usually, Fortnite leaks would invoke instant comment wars-by pros analyzing pixels, casuals memeing, and lore nerds drawing connections that aren’t there at all. Maybe everyone’s too busy screenshotting to bother typing. Or perhaps excitement is still settling like dust-a storm before the flood.
If it turns out that this is true, then Fortnite’s cachet is going to be busted again. A new map would mean new rotations, new hiding spots, and probably a whole new wave of bugs that would somehow become “features” by week two. Those were the times when the zero point malfunctioned and locked players in the backrooms.
Right now, all we have is this key art, and the questions swirling around it. An LTM or a permanent change; this could be explained as either lore-related or merely gameplay-oriented. But most importantly, when is it going to be? Epic’s been running a pretty tight-lipped operation, but they have a history of dropping something mid-Twitch stream when no one’s paying attention.
Stay tuned, drop a w in the comment if you are hyped, and stay vigilant. Something tells me this is not going to be the last leak we witness.
(Also, I’m looking forward to mechs making a return. Don’t @ me.)
