Fortnite players better get their seat belts on, as the OG Rocket Event is coming back on the 26th of July, and the earth is being shaken as one. Yes, you read it correctly. With just two weeks to an event which, at one time, used to keep people glued to their screens, reactions are… mixed.
For starters, to any who may have missed the first madness, the Rocket Event was where a monstrous rocket was launched from Wailing Woods; it opened a hole in the sky, perhaps to set a character in the ever-changing Fortnite lore. Crazy, almost unrestrained, and definitely a “had-to-be-there” moment. Epic is now reviving this moment, and they are almost equally split on the hype.
Others went on about being in faraway locations on the event day, like @Starrayy_: “I’ve got somewhere to be that day, f.” As if anyone could ever be punctual for something.
Then you have the classic nostalgia versus money-grabbing conspiracy: @ShyGalaxy17 chimed in, “If the event is slightly different, it can 100% solve the lore issues and bring back the old lore.” Would this mean that the timeline is going to change? Or an alternate ending of some sort? Or just the same exact scenario with a fresh paint job?
There are the inevitable side comments that could not do without a few “fix the game” comments. @Elite1813035 was full-on rage: “The game is so bad ever since Chapter 6 came… so many bugs… Epic needs to make Fortnite good again!!!!” Oof. On the other hand, @FamilyGuyFAN44Y begged: “I pray they disable killing so people can watch it.” (Same. Nothing kills the vibe of an event like someone sniping me mid-cutscene.)
We have our conspiracy theorists who said it the whole time: @godofwar616 noted that the Wailing Woods bunker now reads “Something is wrong,” thus fueling theories as to how different this rocket path will be. Would this tie into the bigger picture? Or is it just Epic messing with us? (Almost definitely both.)
Respect to @FGMuffins for living their best life: “Woah, that’s on my birthday :o” – congratulations, you win.
So, hype, yeah? Or cautiously optimistic? Or are we just clowns for thinking that something big will come out of this? Either way, keep July 26 free on your calendars. In rerun or remix form, one thing for sure is that Fortnite never runs out of conversations.
Meanwhile, I need to practice my “don’t shoot me, I’m just here for the lore” combo emote. See you out on the island.
