Thursday turned more interesting nonetheless for Fortnite Festival players, so maybe it is for the better. Epic Games announced two brand new Jam Tracks to drop in this week, and reactions from the player community… let’s just say they were disparate, in the truest sense. Indeed, much so. The lone tweet from Fortnite Festival: “Thursday, we’re in love — with two new Jam Tracks dropping that night 🫶,” but surely, the players had a lot to say about this.
The players were reminded quite quickly that technically the track “Friday I’m in Love” by The Cure is already in the game from another pass. Therefore, in fact, it is not new; new is just the possibility to acquire it separately. It just could not pass that way. One commenter called @IronProPlayz came out with the classic statement: “WHY IS THIS NOT A PLAYABLE JAM TRACK!!! It’s only usable as lobby music, and no one can earn them anymore to even listen in-game.” Ouch.
The other one was sometimes viewed more as a “TikTok audio,” to the opposite ends of the spectrum. RealAlucar mercilessly wondered, “Really? We are making TikTok audios as jam tracks now? ☠️” Meanwhile, @Hudwinks1 begged, “bruuuh what happened to festival songs.. stop.. give us more and actually good songs.” Resentful disappointment washed over all.
But that is just the beginning. Some swear that Fortnite Festival is actually on life support: “@MikeTheFox107: It’s official, Fortnite Festival is over,” while @Seqezzy screamed, “Festival is so dead omfg.” Others took the diplomatic tone, with @Rexium pleading, “Please don’t kill this mode.”
Although some were excited about “Friday I’m in Love” finally being made purchasable, it was not all gloom and doom. “It’s about time you released Friday I’m In Love 🙏 please release more 80s/90s songs!” cheered @x3nialk0bra. On the other hand, begrudgingly so, @weirdfishes364 went on to admit, “Friday I’m In Love is good tho ig.”
The consensus, though? No. The players are so groaning over the dearth of fresh entries for today-high caliber tracks and the slow drip-feed of content. @duskyxlops said it best with one word: “At this point I’d rather you release one good song every 3 weeks and save your money, Epic.”
So what comes next for Fortnite Festival? Do Epic cheerfully buoy the scene with bangers that the players so desperately cry for? Or, does this mode fade-down amongst many other-side-projects-Fortnite? Well…only time will tell, but the community has made it absolutely clear that they want more, and they want something better-even though balancing so cripples are problems by itself.
Hey, if you have the faintest streak of hope left, check out the new tracks come Thursday. Perhaps something might just build a pleasant surprise from them for you. Or the other side will be a solid confirmation for your pessimistic fears. Either ways, popcorn on standby for these reactions shall be a good show.
