Prepare yourselves, precious gamers, for another insane live event is arriving very soon, and the hype train is faster on these familiar tracks. Epic Games has finally officially teased the Super Showdown Story Event, scheduled for August 2 in the PM ET time zone under the Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 banner. Judging from the reactions of the player, this is going to be insane.
Before anything else, let us first put together what we know. The teaser itself is awfully amorphous-a quick fade to something chaotic, with players being thrown three-mile long runaway theories. Some see this as the Kraken’s return (this must go mythical). Others think it’s something about a demon portal boss. And the third is a joke. Could Saitama from One Punch Man go up there and one-punch an entire POI into oblivion? At this point, we would be surprised by nothing.
Those replies to the tweet are a thing of beauty. Player Gabbie (@JadeTheKiller33) has her own take: the Kraken won’t be next season but will be the demon portal boss for the live event. Others, such as @thingsrstrange_, remain staunch in their belief: Kraken is coming; Kevin the Cube is coming; Last Reality is coming. “Next season gonna COOK,” and we believe them to their word honestly.
Then, there is the question of whether this is truly a live event or just a trailer. @PsychedelicBakd asked the question outright: “Is there an event, or is it a trailer?”-a very good one, I must say. Considering how Epic operates, I’d put my money on a diabolic in-game show. And if @ivoofc is judging things correctly, we may actually get two live events in one week. All too much to take.
Of course, wild collab theories never really take long to making their rounds. @PumpKingRBLX put out the wishlist of characters that they hope to see next season: Peacemaker, Helldivers, Saitama, Beetlejuice, Blue Beetle, Ben 10, and Ghostface. Well… quite a lot. But hey, Fortnite has been doing crazier crossovers.
One more thing: The splash is that a special kind of omen would have it that some people think the graffiti from earlier this season may have been foreshadowing this event from day one. @espressolust stated, “We all knew her graffiti predicts the future,” shortly followed by everyone scrambling to comb through everything to find any possible leads. Classic Fortnite-moving entire lore into present light.
So, what’s the take? August 2 is gonna be insane! Kraken, demon invasion, or something trickier, the Fortnite community is standing ready. In any case, if history is any guide, Epic Games is about to etch the moment glibly in memory again.
Mark the calendars and fall down in the game while waiting to greet the Super Showdown. Fact is, when it comes to turning a simple event into full-blown untamed chaos, no one does it better than Fortnite.
See you on the island. Or… what’s left of it after this event!
