Epic Games said in an exhilarating announcement for Fortnite enthusiasts that the head-rush-type Blitz Royale is going to be kept for the gamers until 2027. So, is it really forever? This was what sent the community off into an uproar: half of them started rejoicing, and the others placed a fist to their chin, pondering this strange phraseology.
So, what makes Blitz Royale so special? Should one not go into details about it, this mode ramps up the intensity by speeding up the storm’s speed. Loot spawns are given at high speed, and the series of show-stopping actions occur in every match. Where the players’ style lies in having fast combat and fighting rather than socializing and strategy based longer traditional Battle Royale method.
Then there is the carrot on the stick. The tweet goes on to say that Blitz Royale is “officially permanent,” and then shortly follows it up with, “extended until 2027.” This contradiction sent the players replying faster than the Mythic Drum Gun. And then, obviously, some chimed in, like BryanBendickson: “2027 isn’t exactly permanent 😂.” Then Louis Souness also called it out on that: “So it’s not permanent then if it has an expiration date.”
And the argument did not cease there. Roughly half of the community is really pumped about it, with Mike Millen saying it is the “only mode worth a fuck.” While others, like Natalie Bolster, “too easy and boring.” Then you have the zero-build crowd, with DGSlenderman joking, “I feel bad for ZB players getting all their playerbase sucked up by this mode lol.”
One thing is evident, though: That decision of keeping Blitz Royale (for now) gives signs that Epic is listening to player feedback at least. The very fact that Blitz Royale is popular surely could not have escaped Epic’s attention, even though some in the community were left scratching their heads over the announcement’s wording. And frankly, even at Fortnite time, 2027 would almost be forever-anyway, who can say what the game will look like by then?
From what is to take place next, suggestions are already out. Some want a themed collaboration every time this mode stirs up (just in case it goes away), while others beg Epic to bring back fan favorites like Imposters. Fixing heal-offs in the final circles will soon be top-priority-as nothing dispels a vibe faster than a dull standoff.
Whether Blitz Royale stays forever real or till 2027, one thing for sure is that it would be the continuous evolution of Fortnite keeping all the way along, even if the announcements seem to leave the players confused like a default in a pro lobby. So grab your loot, drop in and enjoy the chaos while it lasts—or doesn’t. At this rate, nobody knows anymore.
