Focus Entertainment decided to change its routine and consult the players about their Christmas wishes. To everyone’s surprise, the answer was quite unanimous: the first wish was to get Space Marine 2. The publisher made a fantastic tweet asking the gamers to tell their ultimate Christmas gift dreams, and the community responded by giving a huge list of wishes, most of which were related to the Warhammer 40,000 sequel.
So, what did the players want? Let’s not lose time with the holiday madness. The wishes included everything from new character classes to nice cosmetics, as well as some adjustments in the gameplay which the players complained about would add the holidays’ cheer to their lives. One of the participants, Tomasz Kiraga, openly claimed “Iron Warrior skin for all classes” and went on to say the “diverse loyalists with voice lines” would be perfect too. That is a very specific holiday wish right there!
The Techmarine class was a very common theme in the replies and user TaxableFur only stated “The Techmarine released early” as a Christmas present, and that was it. Bifur_hunter strengthened this by replying “Yea where is the new class?” – it looks like everyone is waiting for that certain addition to come out sooner.
Another major subject coming from the replies was cosmetic items. Many characters wanted to be in-game with the Chaos armor sets and skins, with Fire Typhoon shouting “All I want for Christmas is Chaos armor sets and voice options for PvE”. Cory St. John made a similaar request saying “Chaos skins in pve/30k skins in general” while Hunter king specifically demanded an “Iron Warrior cosmetic pack for space marine 2 pve mode”. The demand for Chaos Marine aesthetics in PVE operations was so overwhelming that NikroAJ literally cried to “LET ME BE A STINKY MARINE” – now that is real holiday spirit!
Nevertheless, it was not only cosmetics and new classes that were the top players’ wishes. A number of users pointed out very particular gameplay changes. blacktemplar707 talked about Rubric marines and demanded that their kicks not be “1-shotting or taking 90% of my health bar at any difficulty.” Likewise, knotthaniel inquired “Terminator Class/Apothecary Class, but balanced” – indicating that players are indeed into the game balance even during Christmas.
One can only speculate how imaginative things became as we kept getting through the replies. MALUM_CAEDOW40k proposed “beast mode like how gears of war had, where we fight against the Imperium/xenos as chaos or Tyranids” since they want to “play as my worst enemy SCARAB TERMINATOR.” Is this not next-level holiday wishlisting?
Superfly_37 presented a wide and varied assortment of wishes that included “a custodes spear, a chain axe and the tech marine class” – to sum up, the ultimate Space Marine 2 Christmas gift pack. And Haziq izuddin Izuddin made a very specific weapon demand: “I want a Godwym pattern ultima boltgun” since why go for standard bolters when you can get the fancy ones?
Nonetheless, some players simply went for it the easy way. Kenneth unceremoniously said “Space Marine lll” – already expecting the next part of the series to be. Trusty from the Philippines wanted the “Space Marine 2 Ultima Edition” while Calnus stated they “wouldn’t be against SM2 but i’d be ok with getting a copy of lord of ultramar” – this shows that some players feel lucky either by getting the game or the related merchandise.
The hardware requirements for Space Marine 2 even came up, with Paragon noting they are “Still too busy trying to get a PC that can run SM2 without bottlenecking” – a situation that many PC gamers probably face during this expensive time of the year.
It is very interesting though that the requests are so precise and wise. These are not casual gamers making vague suggestions; rather, they are hard-core Warhammer 40,000 fans who know exactly what they want from Space Marine 2. From specific armor patterns to balanced class systems and new game modes, the community has apparently been reflecting very deeply on what would be their ideal gaming experience.
The overwhelming number of Space Marine 2-related replies to what was basically a broad Christmas wishlist question indicates how much the gaming community is anticipating this game. When asked to make a wish for anything for Christmas, the majority of the respondents instantly picked their most wanted gaming features instead of the usual holiday gifts.
Focus Entertainment has now received what can be described as a large community-driven list of features requests for Space Marine 2, all wrapped in holiday decorations. Whether any of these wishes will be granted or not is still unclear, yet, the developers can hardly say they do not know what players are longing for this holiday season.
