SNK, maybe one of the venerated fighting game developers, included Cristiano Ronaldo in *Fatal Fury*. Really? Gamers can’t believe how it’s sending the FGC into overdrive for asking whether or not fighting games officially lost the plot or really reached its peak memery. So why Ronaldo, you ask? Just wait; this is going to be so amazing. Who thought THIS was a great idea?!!?

Okay, so the entire gaming universe is exploding after we find out that SNK finally dropped the bombshell: Cristiano Ronaldo. A real dude joining the ranks of their next Fatal Fury game-not even a character from some other game or anime. Like, WHAT?! I mean. Really?

Pure disbelief is the first reaction, am I right? One tweet from @crossknockout about sums it up: “I’ve been staring at this for minutes in utter disbelief man, fight games have gone full mugen. SNK has to be the most unserious company of all time.” And honestly, blew up because, like, same.

But really… how crazy is it? Some peeps are really vibing with it, though: @shehu_sheikh said, “The way you worded this is funny😂😂👍🏾 this isn’t a bad thing tho, it’s very weird and very odd but it’s good overall for the game popularity and growth.” Now, maybe they’re right?

There were always guest characters in time; like, Tekken has added Negan from *The Walking Dead* but at least, that is, sorta kinda a character for, you know, smacking people. Ronaldo? He wouldn’t do that; he kicks balls mostly. Tho, though @livinlifeez pointed out: “Such as, this is nothing new though. Tekken added Negan and he had nothing to do with video games at all. MSHVSF added Noritake Kinashi, a Japanese comedian’s likeness to the game as a character as well.” Hmm, maybe it has happened more times than we think??!?

But and big ugly one: many others are NOT feeling it. This gem dropped by @AloyVera1554: “Not only was it the most random pick for a guest guest but Ronaldo looks so rough compared to the other characters. Bad modeling, boring character design, he looks like such a normie compared to the other characters; he looks like a freaking SF6 campaign mode NPC 😭.” Ouch, that’s gotta sting. Tho I sorta see the point tbh, because Ronaldo kinda looks… outta place?

Not to mention that thing with the voice acting, or rather, the lack of it. Apparently, even his own voice is not the one used for the character- Ronaldo apparently doesn’t record even a day for the project! Anyway, as @Dormancy207 mourns, “Actual voice actor credits have me fucked up, couldn’t even get him in the booth for likeness.” This is weird. Can you imagine? Not even thirty minutes of his time? Probably he’s not so good at voice acting, anyway.

The theories have already flown. “SNK is owned by Saudi Crown Prince MBS… The crown prince effectively owns Ronaldo’s Al Nassr football club. So, basically, Ronaldo is in fatal fury because the crown prince of Saudi Arabia loves football and fighting games,” goes the theory of @Haoh_Gadoken. Which is kind of okay, that makes a *weird* kind of sense. I mean, kind of like, “Oh, you really like fighting games, Saudi Prince, and you have the cash to make it actually happen!?!?”

But then again, among the very odd notions, some do derive humor from it: “Need him to be good. Like, top tier. I want to see EVO turn into FIFA.” Yo, that’d be hilarious, ngl, imagine Ronaldo dominating EVO! lol. Now, that would be some epic-level trolling right there?

It’s also bringing to light some… questionables? @kazakh_mage drops a serious bomb: “@crossknockout added rapist una”. Whoa, take it slowly. That’s really bad. I mean, SERIOUSLY NOT OKAY, if true. I haven’t checked it; so don’t quote me, BUT if that’s the vibe, SNK needs to take care of that ASAP. Like, NOW.

And what’s the verdict? Yes, *Fatal Fury*, definitely making waves. Good waves or bad waves remain a subject of debate. Is Ronaldo going to kill it or break the net? Only time sees that. But one thing is for sure: SNK has pulled off the most WTF move in fighting game history. And it has everyone talking, loved or hated, without question. It makes me feel like, honestly speaking, as time passes, I begin to think they cooking something, so let’s wait and see.
