The Fast and the Furious series has been pivotal for the car culture overall. It showcases the underground world of street racing better than most, featuring beautiful cars and non-stop action. Every installment has upped the action and pure street racing insanity.

The movie series would eventually make it big enough to cross into the gaming sector back in the early 2000s. The reception to most of them have been pretty mixed. That’s why many have been excited about the recent announcement of Fast & Furious Crossroads, the next chapter in this high-octane, adrenaline-pumping series.

This is an officially licensed action racer, featuring Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez. The last couple of movies went all out in the action department, and this game seems to be no different.

These action sequences are super unrealistic, but that has always been the appeal of these movies lately. It’s kind of fun seeing the same physics-breaking moments show up in Fast & Furious Crossroads. And thankfully, there is now actual gameplay footage showing off the incredible action like never before.

It highlights some of the cars and gadgets you’ll be able to use in the game. Rockets seem like the weapon of choice when coming up on heavily-armored vehicles from behind. You’ll have to unload just enough damage to weaken these vehicles’ defenses.

What also stands out in this gameplay trailer are the slow-mo sequences. They are pre-cursors to epic moments that the developer wants you to take a real good look at. Yep, seems like a Fast and Furious movie alright.

The trailer then shows Dom’s iconic black muscle car sporting some lethal hubcaps, which he uses to unload a lot of damage from the side. It’s clear the developer is giving you multiple ways to approach enemy targets.

It then goes on to show some of the heist missions you’ll be able to complete. Each one is different and puts your driving skills to the test, whether it’s being precise with your turns or using a large object behind to take out nearby enemies.

A lot of this game seems to revolve around non-stop action. That’s on brand for this series and should make for some memorable moments.

Will this be the next big thing in the racing genre? It’s still a little too early to tell. However, it looks like a faithful recreation of all of the elements that people love with this franchise.
