Bethesda has introduced changes to Fallout 76 that show a research focus on reducing the difficulty of building your CAMP. If you have ever dealt with a wall placement issue and wanted to throw the controller due to “NOTHING SNAPS RIGHT” with the controller, you are the exact reason this update exists. Building is now easier than ever, in addition to the CAMP revamp that now includes Workshop User Interface and building rule relaxations for Adventure Mode. The new update has finally arrived!
What, if anything, has changed? Some attention has been given to the User Interface. The game refusing an object placement while placing it no longer infuriates users. The post-apocalyptic home that users can now design with the new building rules is much easier to create and users now no longer have to fight the game. The update is a quality-of-life update and, since the launch of the game in 2018, has been requested by the players.
With Fallout 76 FiveM, the community fallout has become a mixed bag, which is normal. Some users have shown real excitement. Comet_Samurai declared himself to be ‘the least creative C.A.M.P builder’ yet found the update ‘cool.’ CaeserTaro, in a passive tone, was excited by ‘wait this looks kinda cool. May try it out later.’ And montrealronin stated that if the new build mode is as advertised, they ‘might just have to reinstall’, which is a reasonable win to a greatly spiteful game.
Of course, not everyone is smiling. On the other side of the spectrum we have frustration. As previously checked with frustration, this update seemed overdue and these comments seem to show the same. With ‘Only took 5 years wow! I love that every single Bethesda dev is deadly allergic to timely updates.’ TabbulaTitan Oof showed a bit of truth. In response to that comment, xxxBongwater tweeted ‘outpasted not only by other small dev teams but also by solo non profit modders! Their quiet pathetic as a company at this point.’ That spelling mistake just escalated the feeling of genuineness to the comment.
A few are asking about the actual new content. HamsterSick asked ‘Soooo, no actual new content? Same map! No increased build budget. Not really for those with 10 maxed camps and vaults. Is it.’ The concern seems warranted. Even though the update does enhance the construction process, it does not add new places to build, nor does it substantially raise the construction allowances. The system does improve, which a lot of players like, but some do want more.
In addition to that, there are random demands that emerge in every post. ‘Now do cross save!!’ demands Coltrag, and yeah, it would be great. ChuckSharts is already thinking of other games and is asking ‘Will this relaxed build mode appear in Fallout 4?’ and MaxSarcastic77 is just waiting to play, asking ‘Any ETA when the game will be back up?’ because, of course, big updates come with downtime.
There is now less pure hate-fest as some players are still engaged, hopeful, and expectant. Garrett Horsch wrote on Twitter, commenting, ‘definitely more focused on what’s coming later this year,’ but “the best build update you’ve ever done!” is showing hope to Fallout 76 while humorous, deeply felt skepticism inherent with Bethesda.
The CAMP Revamp, on the other hand, works in fixing the long time CAMP building issue. It helps active players, as well as the returning players. It is not, however, going to bring back the Fallout 76 player base from its peak. But those folks returning will surely get the update, especially the CAMP builders. Now if only they could get the cross-save feature fixed.
