Mediatonic’s latest Twitter post urged the gamers to ‘pull up’, ‘warm up’ and ‘team up’ for the Fall Guys Games, but the response from the gaming community could only be described as not exciting at all. The official Fall Guys account together with some graphics shared this harmless-looking promotional message, but the replies section gave the impression of a full-on protest site instantly. Gamers are not just asking for new content but are in fact requesting more clarity regarding the game’s future, better communication, and getting the long-time issues fixed.
So what’s actually going on? The Fall Guys community has experienced a lot of frustration over the past months, and this tweet was probably the last straw for many. One user, RealDogeMaster, very powerfully expressed his feelings with a post: “Pull up, warm up and team up – it is time to stop ignoring the fact that your community has been on fire for the past two months and allow us to get the least amount of communication! Each day that you neglect issues worsens the situation and allows more people to lose hope and quit!” Ouch! That is the kind of engagement no one wants on their marketing post.
However, they were not the only ones. A bunch of the players pointed out that the ‘Slime Factory Fame Pass’, which is already outdated, was still being shown on the developers’ account, and that this further supported the idea that the game was indeed not being adequately maintained. User Opeyemi601 courageously pointed this out and said: “You are advertising a fame pass through your pinned tweet that is not even available anymore lol.” Such little things are what lead gamers to suspect that the developers are not paying attention.
Among the complaints of users, the most important thing mentioned is the lack of communication, even though they have already given some specific gameplay-related complaints. PainfulGuy10 talked about balancing issues between the rounds by writing a long post: “Why is Massive Golf ONLY in this LTM, add it to more shows that the creative rounds fit in and Knockout i guess… also you still haven’t added Team version of Speed Circuit and Button Bashers to Duos and Squads… at least do the bare minimum and add them.” On the other hand, Harley123447335 was asking for better round distribution: “It’s great that you have finally unvaulted all the classic maps; however, you need to fix the balance of the rounds because some maps are way too common and some we just never get, so please fix this.”
Another puzzling issue that came up was the ‘elephant in the room’ concept which some people mentioned. The user dronescar plainly asked: “can someone elaborate on the elephant in the room,” while tique70 inquired in French, “Address the elephant please.” It seems that the players want to bring up a major issue that is not being talked about, yet the developers continue marketing the game with normal contents as if nothing has happened.
The creative community is also not silent. The user lostloser1055 shared a GIF from The Office where Michael Scott states, “I’m ready to get hurt again” and wrote under it: “Epic and Mediatonic when we ask what the future of Fall Guys is.” And CyberBullyIRL also responded to another user with: “I think the community could literally run their game better than they could atp.” That is a quite serious indication of a lack of confidence in the developers’ skills.
But wait, there is actually some positive feedback hidden among all the criticism. The user FFA_Bean wrote: “I love this render so much. Could we please get Massive Golf to Knockout?” Therefore, it cannot be claimed that everybody is dissatisfied—players indeed appreciate the graphics and some of the content. They just want more, plus they want the developers to take their feedback seriously.
All this comes at a very interesting time, as several users have suggested that something will happen on the 28th. User Jackjillz wrote: “Can’t wait For what you gonna post on the 28th 🤯” indicating that there might be an announcement coming. Nevertheless, given the current status of things with the community, the forthcoming announcement better be significant enough to calm everyone down.
One of the most remarkable things is how well-organized and structured the criticism has become. It has moved from being a random case of players leaving complaints to players specifically asking for communication, round balancing, and transparency concerning the future of the game. User Baxsusy even posted a facepalming GIF along with the text: “Man i’m actually so done with this company.” Such a level of frustration is not created overnight; it has been building up for a while now.
Some of the gamers are trying to be more constructive in their approach. User fungame2022 seems to be starting a hashtag campaign with the post: “Give us hope! SAVE THE FALL GUYS!
