Mediatonic threw one major bomb on Fall Guys players as more than a hundred developer-created levels have entered the rotation inside a massive pool for random Unranked matches. This kind of crazy bean battle royale chaos has long been on the jumbo-diner’s list, with formal obstacles courses and absurd crazy challenges all mingling in an infinite party.
The announcement tweet released by the official Fall Guys account threw the activity into a frenzy, with instant debates breaking out in the hours that went on about what rounds actually got chosen. Some cried for the absence of classics like Square Up or Blueberry Bombardment, while others basked in the glory of all the new variety that was now there to opt for. One player jokingly said: “is it time to officially admit I brought this idea?”—the perfect kind of banter the Fall Guys community would normally engage in.
What sets this update apart is giving Knockout a much-needed revival. Earlier, many creative rounds would rotate in and out for a very short time; some would just make one lonely rotation, and that was it. Now, the entire playground of Mediatonic-chaos is just a click away. No more waiting for weeks just to play one level; it’s all there in the pool.
The reply thread really serves as evidence: some plead for classic modes to get the same treatment (“This is great BUT that shouldn’t be a reason to let classic modes wither away!”), then there are the theorists about future updates (“i wonder where you gonna put those creative team games once we get team gamemode”). Complaints will, of course, be half of the discussion: (“Now please fix the lags on pc”), because there hasn’t and won’t go any of the gaming update without at least a mention of some sort of technical glitch.
Interestingly enough, the community is divided when it comes to the creative maps. Some fully endorse them (“Some of the creative maps are fun you should try them”), while others are just gonna go old school (“Damn I guess I will just stick to classic”). And the Block Party fans are not done yet—yep, someone’s still asking for that on day 11 of their campaign. Props for persistence.
There is one thing a little bit clear right now, and that is Mediatonic listening to player feedback but putting their own spin on it. The fact that the emphasis is placed on their own designed levels and not the community’s (at least for the time being) seems to me to indicate they want to maintain a certain standard of quality. One player with big dreams actually said: “now imagine if it had community levels… absolute cinema.”
With these beans tumbling through 100+ challenges, one thing is for sure: the chaos has gotten way more unpredictable! Variety-seeking casuals or hard-core fans dissecting every single level design away from battle royale might be kept busy some days. Dark side: don’t get too attached to any one level or else once these new ones are multiplying, you might never see your favorite again for quite a while. But hey, isn’t that one of the many nice things about this game? Fall Guys: The unholy, side-splitting, and infuriatingly delightful unpredictability. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to dive into some unranked chaos.
