Mediatonic has put up a Fall Guys event that allows participants to earn double fame points and accordingly the players can load up points at the rate of double for each match. The official twitter account of Fall Guys was the source for this going on, which simply wrote, ‘No tricks, just treats: double fame is live!’ Amid this, some players took the bonus as an occasion to voice their displeasure at the game’s present state, while others have a reason for being happy.

What actually is the double fame event? The players will be able to earn double the fame points during a limited period from their games. This has really tremendous perks for those players who are either passing through the season passes or trying to level-up their rank quickly. One player, CoolT35, tweeted, ‘As a crown grinder this is a huge W for us! Thanks fall guys.’ and expressed very well the grinding players’ feelings. For the players who practice for long hours to master the bean skills, it is the same as free progression.

On the contrary, not everybody is happy about the news. The community is really divided over the direction of the game as the announcement of the event has brought out several complaints. GordOso wanted to know, ‘what is up with Squad Server ???’ while ForUMatthew said, ‘custom maps not working at the moment.’ Even with the announcement of the event, technical issues seem to still be there.

The bigger topic of discussion was the Fall Guys ranked system. Player joaoc_fgfb_2024 reacted to the post by saying, ‘Doubling the points from a ranking that’s worthless. It’s impossible to become a superstar.’ This sparked a long conversation about whether the ranking system is fair or broken by nature. Graphic🍓 said, ‘You’re just bad,’ and SuperFoxy8888 defended that ‘literally everyone can become a superstar, even casual players.’

What was I saying? Oh, yes, the ranked system debate heated up. Joaoc_fgfb_2024 related the story of the ups and downs of ranking, they mentioned ‘pros, cheaters, physics exploiters, bugs’ and retreating bots that were making the earlier seasons easier to play. Their estimate to get the top rank was that one would first have to reach the final round 100 times to get 1000 points, losses not considered. Graphic🍓 replied that many players have ranked up while dealing with the same conditions, thus implying that the system doesn’t reward participation but skill instead.

In parallel, there are other players who are just waiting for new content. ‘Could we at least get a Simpsons collab 🥀? We’re poor Fall Guys fans, please feed us,’ FFA_Bean pleaded, which was the cause for German to draw attention to the irony of ‘The Simpsons are currently owned by Disney, just like the properties that Epic has FG running on autopilot.’ That reflects some players’ feelings that the game has been neglected after Epic Games’ acquisition of Mediatonic.

The community of producers is also experiencing the pressure. Eonn has been very loud about the ‘EXPLORE AND CREATOR SPOTLIGHT’ feature withdrawal, saying ‘PUT IT BACK!’ and adding, ‘none of the games I’ve created have been played… and they were made almost a year ago.’ This is a reminder of the doubts that still remain regarding the management of user-generated content in the game.

Some international players reported timing issues too. Diego Riani made a comment in Portuguese that the event was actually ‘Está atrasado esta desde de ayer mi chapa!!’ which translates as ‘It’s late, it’s been since yesterday, my friend!!’ suggesting that the double fame might have been in effect for a longer time than was announced in some regions.

Still, the critic RPG saw it as ‘this is the first time you guys have announced this in a very long time. Normally, it just comes and goes with no announcement. So, thank you!’ At least, the communication efforts did not get completely unnoticed.

The mixed feedback on what should be a clear-cut positive event is a lot about the current state of Fall Guys. Players are still very much interested in and passionate about the game to the extent of digging deeply into it and voicing their opinions but at the same time, they are equally frustrated with the technical issues, the ranking system, and the content being released. No doubt, the double fame event will be a blessing for hardcore players who are putting all their effort into the season but it seems that many people in the community are expecting more major updates and patches soon. It’s still unclear if Mediatonic will deal with these issues but for now, players should make the most of the double points offer before it disappears.
