The official Fall Guys account has informed us that the Classic Explore playlist is making a comeback, and this playlist consists of the legacy levels of the game from its early seasons. This move is presumably aimed at long-time players who are nostalgic about the old days, but it has received considerable criticism from the very beginning of its announcement. The reaction shows the community’s dissatisfaction with the developers’ slow rate of work, the game’s technical difficulties, and the poor communication from Mediatonic, the developer.
So, Fall Guys celebrated the reopening by tweeting the following message: “Sometimes you gotta hit ’em with the classics.” It sounded like they were trying to throw a party. They even added a handshake emoji. The Classic Explore was returned, which is a… playlist of old levels. Just this. And the gamers? They were not in a party mood. They instead turned up with a list of problems that was longer than the Slime Climb final.
The frustration of gamers is the subject of the replies right from the start. One player, Jackjillz, is very direct: “Plz tell us what the actual FUCK yoiur doing it’s almost been half a year now.” And really?? That captures the mood of most of the comments quite accurately. There is absolutely a sense that the game is on auto pilot. Another player, EGhostArtist_, even suggested that perhaps the whole account is getting operated by an AI because the staff simply… never seems to respond to the very issues that the people are making a lot of noise about. “There is absolutely no justification for their lack of response…” was their comment. Oof.
What are these issues then? Let’s make a list of them but not in a nerdy bullet-point way instead a chaotic, angry one. First, the Android port appears to be really troublesome. Users FerUtter, FFA_Bean, and aerosmillie, are among the numerous commentators reporting the same problem: The one where you cannot send friend invites. The friends’ list doesn’t even show up. For a game that is entirely dependent on wild multiplayer fun, it is quite a sudden ending. “PLEASE FIX ANDROID – WE CANNOT PLAY ONLINE WITH FRIENDS OR JOIN PARTYS,” yells aerosmillie. All caps. You can tell it is very serious.
Next on the list is the content. Some like Jimmy Chungus are requesting specific Legacy LTMs such as “Classic Knockout” to do the trick and entice the players back while others are just sick and tired of the old stuff. “We want new levels not old levels,” is the comment from tique70. PainfulGuy10 shared tons of screenshots showing all the classic rounds that are still not included in the playlist, for example, Block Party and Wall Guys. Thus, the very “classic” return is again imperfect! It is like serving a cake but forgetting the frosting, sprinkles and half of the layers.
I got a bit carried away there with the analogy, didn’t I? Well, the whole atmosphere is just… defeated. “This game is dead asking for new levels we have lost hope” was what menakktwt16 said. Another user, RhymesW1thGrug, stated that they had “wasted money” on a Miku skin and foresaw that Fall Guys would only become “a Fortnite mode.” And with the speculation of Fortnite creative integration in the air, that comment is a bit heavy, isn’t it?
A huge chasm separates the two sides here. The official account continues to post jolly tweets about classic content and even schedules them, while the community is in the replies reporting major bugs and asking for a roadmap—any hint of the future. Joaoc_fgfb_2024 even joked, “Roadmap 2026?! 🤞🏻🙏🏼”. It’s funny but also a bit sad.
So what is the Classic Explore update really about? It looks more like a patch than a gift. It is as if a rotation of playlists is still on while the real work—fixing ports, creating new levels, interacting with players—is being done elsewhere? Or maybe not at all? Players do not just want the levels they had played before to be brought back; they want a reason to keep playing, a sign that the cartoon world filled with beans they love is being looked after. The return of a small piece of the past is nice but it does not cure a broken present or build a future. The Fall Guys community has not totally given up hope yet but the hold is slowly loosening, and Mediatonic will have to give them something really significant to hold onto before they all fade away for good. The community’s concerns span across platforms, including PlayStation and Xbox players who share similar frustrations.
