So, here’s the problem. Epic Games had entirely promised that on this very night, the Batmobile would be arriving at Fortnite. They held a briefing for creators and settled on a price of 2,500 V-Bucks or $35, give or take. But lo and behold, once the shop was updated, there wasn’t a trace of the Batmobile. None.
And that has players NOT happy. Really, no happy moves.
It started when a trusted leaker, ShiinaBR, said the Batmobile was set to hit the item shop. All hell broke loose, V-Bucks were saved, calendars wiped clean, ready to jump on grabbing this item the moment it hit the store… And nothing. The item shop came and went, the Batmobile was nowhere in sight.
The reply section is gold! One player said, “Epic has been absolute buns since Mustard left,” which is a big-time insult and serious shade. And another said, “Great now the Joker is going to get away. Nice going Epic!” which honestly gave me some chuckles.
But then people went somewhat insane saying: they ALREADY HAVE the Batmobile, did I say something wrong? Yeah, so apparently if you owned it on Rocket League, it got transferred into Fortnite through some weird account linking method. So there are some lucky players zooming around in the Batmobile, while it’s just a pity town for the rest looking at a blank spot where it would have been in the item shop. It just adds to the pain.
And the price difference is nuts. In Rocket League, the Batmobile is $8.00 for 800 credits. But almost three times that price in Fortnite? 2,500 V-Bucks! Players say it’s a scam outright, and… maybe that’s not unfounded? Price gouging gone wild.
Some speculate that it is just delayed for tomorrow because apparently, Batman Day is about to hit? I had to look it up myself, but yeah, September 21st is Batman Day. So maybe Epic just wanted to time it with that. But… tell people?? Communication ain’t that hard, guys.
Lots of players are missing decals and boosts and all kinds of crossover items from the Rocket League integration in this whole mess. One player commented they’re still missing two decals and the boost in Fortnite, but the wheels finally showed up after being removed from their Rocket League account this morning. It’s a whole mess.
And the compensation demands are pouring in. “They should give everyone vbucks as compensation” declared one player, which is nice to consider but, honestly, has Epic ever done such? Having everyone this upset may well make that a consideration.
The really wacky thing is that Epic told the creators ahead of time. Like, they’d set a release date and a price for it and everything. So, for it just to… not happen? That would be some weird breakdown in either internal communication, or something. Did someone forget to hit the “add to shop” button?? Did Batman himself object to the price?? A player joked “Batman is tweaking it which is why it wasn’t added to the item shop until he’s done” with a picture of Batman working on a car, and honestly, that’s probably the best explanation we’re going to get.
Oh, the frustration is real. Players were waiting for this crossover; they were saving up their V-Bucks, getting excited to cruise around the island in the Dark Knight’s iconic vehicle. And nothing. Like waiting for Christmas morning, and then finding out Santa forgot to stop at your house.
Some players are even saying this is part of a bigger pattern of Epic dropping the balls since certain developers left the company. “They NEED to fire all the people who have lead Chapter 5 and 6 they’re garbage and the reason why all the players are leaving” one particularly angry player commented. Which like, that might be a bit extreme but you can feel the frustration in those words.
The weirdest thing about it is the in-game news feed actually suggests the Batmobile could be coming tomorrow. So maybe it is just a one-day delay because of whatever update stuff. But like… tell us?? A simple tweet would pretty much quell all this frustration.
Instead, they have players guessing while being frustrated and watching the few who had it already in Rocket League enjoying the ride they have been waiting for. That is creating a weird divide in the community between the haves and have-nots, which always is not a good look.
And then there’s the price controversy again. Numerous players have pointed out the absurd difference between the Rocket League price and the Fortnite price. So, why is it three times more expensive in one game than the other? It doesn’t make sense unless Epic is just banking on Fortnite players being willing to pay more for the same content.
Well, to be fair, they probably are. But yeah, it feels kind of scummy. Especially when the items are supposed to be part of this big crossover event between the two games. Shouldn’t the pricing be consistent??
The whole situation is just another example of how game companies sometimes forget that players are actual human beings with expectations and feelings. When you promise something, especially to content creators who then tell their audiences, you kinda have to deliver. Or at least communicate why you can’t deliver.
Epic, however, has gone radio silent, leaving players confused, frustrated, and sharing jokes about the Joker getting away because Batman’s car is stuck in the shop. It is a mess, but well, at least it is an entertaining one? Silver linings?
Maybe the Batmobile will show up tomorrow. Maybe it’ll be at a better price. Maybe Epic will throw some free V-Bucks at everyone as an apology. Or maybe we’ll all just wonder what could have been while staring at empty garage spaces where the Batmobile should be. Only time will tell, but for now, the Fortnite community is once again left waiting and wondering what Epic will do next.
