Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has once again managed to dodge a direct answer as to whether Sony’s iconic Kratos and Aloy will ever return to Fortnite. His reply consisted of the ultimate not-an-answer, “Can’t comment on that.” And that really was it. But hey, here’s the kicker: It’s been about 1,000 days (three years) since these characters were last in the Fortnite Item Shop. So what gives?

The tweet, seen first by @Dashybear and @klejdijd, went viral with all sorts of responses: some frustrated, some hopeful, others merely puzzled. Why hold on to these skins for so long? These are not baby skins, you know. Kratos stands as one of the most easily recognizable gaming characters ever, and there is a certain grace to the design of Aloy. So what’s the hold-up?

@SquishyBandit12 calls it all “stupid,” and we’re feeling that energy ourselves. @W1qAnimations went on to say that other Sony-related skins have also been “MIA far too long,” mentioning variants of Venom and Spider-Man. Like, 135 days for Venom? 165 for Spider-verse? Come on, Epic.

Then there’s @BestyBattalion dropping some cold logic: “If something was coming, [Tim Sweeney] wouldn’t have replied at all.” Oof. That one stings. But it’s true—when companies are actually working on something, they usually stay silent until the big reveal. A “no comment” often means… well, nothing’s happening.

Meanwhile, @Algorithimizt brings up a good argument: look at how Epic has been in and out of court battles over licensing and exclusivity deals (I’m looking at you, Apple). So maybe there’s some legal red tape keeping these skins from returning. Or maybe Sony’s being stingy with their IP rights. Who can say?

Still, let’s not forget about the people who already have these skins—like @cupiidq flexing, “Me alr owning the whole set.” Lucky you, man. @PTripz13365 slammed the “limited time” stance as “dumb for fans.” And he’s really onto something: FOMO (fear of missing out) is very real when such dope skins disappear for years.

Here’s the kicker: Fortnite’s history of collabs is mad crazy. They’ve done the unthinkable: revived really old skins for seemingly no reason. So, you know, at least there’s some tiny sum of hope somewhere. Maybe.

The waiting game. Also, hitting up Tim’s mentions until he spills. (Just kidding. Well, not really.)

All in all, if you missed Kratos and Aloy the first time around, don’t hold your breath. But hey, Fortnite is full of surprises. Stranger things have happened. For instance, remember when they put in a banana in a suit?
