It is just Emma Frost, the icy queen of X-Men, versus Bucky Barnes, the brooding super-soldier, intent on either having some sort of fight or…whatever else. The internet is going into an overdrive theory machine, and the devs? Radio silence. So typical.
The clip in itself is pretty short; I mean, almost short enough to blink and miss it. Emma’s in white, looking all kinds of the lady of the manor (because she is); Bucky’s looking like the brooding, hard-done-to: “I’ve seen too much.” Zero dialogue, no fighting-just tension. Are we on Team Rivals? Rivals? Secret romance? (Okay, maybe not that one, but hey, anything’s possible with Marvel.)
What is crazy is that there is not even a whole list of missing cast members from Marvel Rivals, the soon-to-be-released hero brawler. Well, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Magneto are definitely in, but Emma and Bucky? That is news to us, and so many fans have legitimately gone mental. Likes on the tweet: thousands-within minutes! Replies? Utterly bonkers.
Except nothing is going on in those replies. Hey, hear me out? Sure, lots of people are liking the tweet, but no actual, like, commenting going on. Odd, right? Firstly, this is not how Marvel fans operate. They tend to have some opinion. A loud one.
Where are the “Emma would wipe the floor with Bucky” crowd? The “Bucky deserves better” stans? The “Why isn’t Wolverine here?” brigade? It’s almost as if everyone’s eyes caught the clip, everyone screamed internally, and everyone moved right along with their lives.
Or the replies might have been straight up nuked. It’s definitely not the first time, and it wouldn’t be the last, that a post by Marvel was slightly too spicy for its own good and had to be shut down. Nonetheless, we heard much of nothing.
So, what’s up with those two? Emma’s got psychic powers and an attitude to match, and Bucky’s your good-natured super-soldier with a vibranium arm and a head full of trauma. They’ve been seeing each other across the page mostly, but never really played an important role in each other’s stories.
