There’s no breaks on the hype train, my friends. Electronic Arts has begun teasing the trailer for the upcoming Command & Conquer Remastered Collection on YouTube with a live video premier.
Command & Conquer began as a franchise back in 1995 as a real-time strategy game developed by Westwood Studios. It’s had a handful of publishers throughout the years including Virgin Interactive, Sega, Nintendo, and of course, Electronic Arts. Currently, development is with EA Redwood Studios after joining the EA family from Westwood about seventeen years ago.
All in all, there have been 22 releases in the franchise to date (if you count expansions), with this upcoming remastered collection being the 23rd. Most of these have even been good games, which not every franchise can say!
The video that EA uploaded to YouTube is currently just a cover art of the game with an hourly countdown to the trailer’s full premier. In the description, EA states thusly:
“It’s time for your first in-depth look at the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection, featuring both Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert along with their three expansion packs!”
Now that is a sizeable collection to be certain! Red Alert first released back in 1996 as the second game in the franchise, releasing the same year as the Covert Operations expansion for the first title. Red Alert would also spawn the Counterstrike and Aftermath expansions, as well as two more sequels directly to the title. The Tiberian series is also well-acclaimed, with quite a few titles to its name to add into the collection.
These games were also (mostly) released more than twenty years ago, so it’ll be incredible to see them updated to modern standards and graphics. We recently saw the release of Command & Conquer: Rivals back in 2018 which brought a fresh pop of graphics and gameplay to the long-standing franchise, so it’ll be quite interesting to see what the team plans to do with the new addition.
Electronic Arts has had a bit of difficulty in the last couple of years after a handful of less-than-stellar deliveries, like the Star Wars Battlefront II flop they released, or the annual complaints over their sports titles. Still, it seems that everyone is plenty hyped to get their hands on these classic titles, so maybe EA could earn some goodwill back with the collection’s release?
The trailer is expected to debut at 10:00 AM on March 10th, about fifteen hours from the publication of this article. If you intend to see the trailer as it releases, make sure you set your reminder!
