Recently, Microsoft announced it was acquiring ZeniMax, Bethesda‘s parent company. The deal included the well-known Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and DOOM franchises. Players were unsure of what the deal meant for them. PlayStation 4 players were especially worried it meant new Bethesda games would have Windows 10 and Xbox exclusivity.

The Elder Scrolls Online community has also asked what the acquisition meant for them. Matt Firor, Studio Director of ZeniMax Online Studios, recently posted an image attempting to end any rumors.

The Studio Director ensured players that nothing would negatively impact The Elder Scrolls Online. The game will continue to be supported, exactly how it was before, without any changes. PlayStation 4 players won’t have to worry about losing access. The game is expected to continue growing on all of its released platforms, including the most recent Google Stadia launch.

There is currently no information on what changes, if any, will come with the Microsoft merger and The Elder Scrolls Online. The announcement may have been posted in advance to stop any rumors before they began circulating.

The letter from Firor ends with gratitude towards The Elder Scrolls Online community. While the game’s initial launch was rocky, the game has since been released on consoles, been supported in more countries, and has continued to launch more content and events throughout the year.

Around the same time as the acquisition announcement was news for even more events coming soon. There is one new event starting today to kick off the end of the Dark Heart of Skyrim storyline, and then three annual events. One more event, called “Tamriel Together,” will begin later this year. The celebration will include a sweepstakes, bonus items, and more. More information regarding the celebration, including the dates of each event, was posted in a blog post on The Elder Scrolls Online website.

The developer has previously announced ongoing plans to support the game on next-gen consoles. Those who play on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One won’t have to worry about not being able to play on one of the new consoles coming out this Winter.

The Elder Scrolls Online is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
