So, to get started, this new trailer from FromSoftware about new Elden Ring DLC Night Reign is just something else, hell?? I guess it would be safe to say that at this point, the base game will feel like a refreshing walk in Limgrave. Things get DARKER, enemies get SCARIER, and already, lore implications?? Brain is hurting.
The trailer begins with this spooky shot of a hooded man nocking an arrow-but even better, the arrow’s glowing with some cursed energy or something?? And then BAM, cut to it piercing through…something not human. Classic FromSoft, just a little bit of terrifying new enemy design, and cut away again.
What we DO know:
– A new area called the Veilbound Lands (sounding comfy, right??)
– Eight new weapon types confirmed at least, including those SICK shadowy arrows
– Preorders live (duh)
– As always the release date is just “Coming Soon” (thanks, Miyazaki)
The comments under the tweet have similar things happening. Someone random, “Morgott’sLeftToe,” thinks that this DLC is going to clear out that whole “who was the first Elden Lord ACTUALLY” thing. “RanniSimp420” keeps on screaming about how this pretty darn proves their fave blue witch is returning. Sometimes just your usual Souls community.
The MUSIC. As if the lyrics of the song would say, “form a choir from a cathedral”, while the cathedral crumbles into an abyss. Classic FromSoftware audio design.
One point of condemnation? That “Coming Soon” hanging from the end. FromSoft really out here edging the entire Soulsborne community AGAIN. We would all be hollowed out by the time this game is released. But new content certainly means a whole host of new ways to die horribly at the hands of 17-phase transition bosses. Can’t wait to be thoroughly ruined in 4K.
