The announcement came like a bombshell for all Elden Ring players; the Nightreign DLC will disappoint souls everywhere with greatly enhanced nightmares on 31 July 2025. According to the official tweet, four enhanced Nightlords-truly evil powers of Tricephalos, Augur, Equilibrious Beast, and Fissure in the Fog-will be laying siege upon Limveld for the utmost of evil deeds. Honestly, judging from all the player reactions, we were not ready.
The announcement shook the Elden Ring community, immediately sending its players into frenzy over the enhanced bosses. Libra had every one of us breaking into cold sweat, with reply after reply screaming different variations of, “ENHANCED LIBRA RRRAAAAAHHHH,” accompanied by meme images of people getting wrecked. One player ominously predicted, “Libra better proc actual madness on me irl,” which, well, is a bit of a mood.
Then there is the glowing Augur. Players are discussing deathblight-phase possibilities (regular bosses were apparently not very painful enough), and Equilibrious Beast has already set people wondering if we’ll finally get some frenzy weapons for the frenzied camps. The replies are an interesting blend of anticipation and pure terror: “he’s gonna beat us up, isn’t he” is an apt phrase, paired with a GIF showing someone getting utterly demolished.
In fact, there are dissenters for the DLC. Some players are whining about the lack of cross-play (one even uninstalled it because of that), while others say enhanced bosses are just recycled content. However, the majority of the community appears to be psyched—especially for potential new Everdark mechanics. “Everdark mode with Everdark field bosses would be crazy,” one player began to muse, imagining storms across every location. Another joked about wanting the Bell Bearing Hunter to join US against the Nightlords for maximum chaos.
Similarly hyped is the Japanese demographic, with a player tweeting in Japanese how Libra “will probably spam jump attacks in 1 vs. 1” (translation: we are all doomed). Meanwhile, Arabic players joke that we’ll “teach him how to aim properly,” spreading the mass pain that is the Elden Ring.
What is more captivating are the strategies that players have started compiling, even with barely anything to go on. Some speculate about Augur and his deathblight phase, others worry about new moves from Tricephalos, and everyone is glancing at the peak of passion that will far-worsen the previous conditions of Libra. Collective PTSD caused by the base game bosses is strong.
FromSoftware is keeping it hush-hush, but judging from player reactions, one can safely say that 31 July will stand as a very memorable day- a day filled with glorious suffering. Whether you are excited to be challenged anew or freaked out by enhanced versions of bosses who have already destroyed you, one thing is clear; the Night hungers, and we are all soon going to be dinner. Time to dust off those builds and prepare to die… A lot. Again.
