Dying Light: The Beast by Techland has taken over as the new horror of zombie-slaying and has drawn players to fight in close confrontations and thrill-a-minute parkour with shocking intensity. The official Dying Light Twitter account recently issued a thank-you note to the community and tagged them with “undying support,” referring to it as a response that was definitely beyond their wildest expectations. Furthermore, they went on to suggest the newest players could join main character Kyle Crane in his vengeance mission through the horror-evoking Castor Woods.
A lot of hype and bloodshed cover the game, but still in the fan replies, it is very clear what players want from a new Dying Light. There are even some specific requests that seem too good to be true or hard to believe almost.
Here’s to discovering why the game is so engaging for everyone.
To start with, there are the good things first. The return of the game is welcomed by lots of players with warmth. A user, for instance, AshenOneVI said: “Dying Light: The Beast met all my expectations” and another one said, “insanely good,” and went so far as to suggest that the game could have been branded Dying Light 3 if that was the case. Such high praise is very rare to come across, especially considering that the love for the original is still so strong among gamers.
Although very rare gems like that do not come along often, Corey’s Gaming Hub also praised the game “Congratulations on a successful launch with the game. It’s a lot of fun to play,” which is somewhat nice to see in the midst of the usual gaming Twitter chaos.
The feature requests, however, are pouring in faster than zombies during a nighttime chase sequence. Several players are begging for New Game Plus mode, with Arron Grosvenor simply pleading “Please add new game plus Please 😁” and Brendan Chwascinski pointing out that the recent update didn’t bring them back because “there is nothing to people would like to do the story with the things they already have.”
The physical copy crowd is making their voices heard too. Markus asked for “Physical Copies please!” while TheJonnyBeans declared “If only it was released physically. I’ll never buy digital.” Old school gamers sticking to their principles, you gotta respect it.
Then there’s the ray tracing drama. MFDOOM directly asked “Where is Ray tracing on PC?” while RDCOMPUTERS1 claimed they already got a refund “coz of ray tracing thanks for your false marketing 😃” – that smiley face doing a lot of heavy lifting there. Karl even mentioned that the game claims to be “upgraded for PS5 PRO and it is not” which, if true, is kinda awkward.
The volatile hive situation seems to be causing some confusion too. User 4ndyss8919 started a whole thread about finding “multiple throughout the game with seemingly no way at all to interact with them” and other players quickly joined in saying they’re experiencing the same issue. Junaid noted there’s “a prompt in old town and a hive entrance but you cant access it!” and requested that volatile hives be added properly. Players tried everything from molotovs to UV lights both day and night with no success, and apparently these mysterious hives don’t even show up on the map. Weird.
Nighttime gameplay balance is another hot topic. DubbsMoleman called the game “fantastic” but argued that “nighttime gameplay needs a bit of attention” saying there’s “really no benefit to running around during the night” and that volatiles are “more challenging than most bosses” with spawn rates too high and rewards not worth the effort. Oof.
Co-op functionality isn’t escaping criticism either, with nobody_lurking claiming “the co op is still same mess from DL2” which, if you played the second game’s co-op at launch, you know that’s not exactly a compliment.
Quality of life improvements are on players’ minds too. Stealth0Five wants unlimited weapon repairs “like in the first game” while Bumholes1945 suggested a mission restart option after getting lost when returning to the game. SkinnyDip is missing the “goofy transport vehicles” from previous games like the witches broom and hover board, and asked if they could take the bike outside of challenges.
Looking toward the future, Lobo hopes for “a story focused DLC akin to The Following” which was arguably one of the best parts of the first game, while nator328 wants “more cool locations like Kowloon City or Egypt” – both of which would be absolutely insane settings for parkour zombie action.
The Infamous Ian basically summarized everyone’s wishlist in one tweet: “Please add new game plus, ray tracing, and additional endgame content” – covering all the major bases there.
Despite all the requests and minor complaints, the overall vibe is overwhelmingly positive. Players seem genuinely thrilled that Dying Light is back and delivering the kind of intense, adrenaline-fueled experience that made the original so memorable. The gory combat, terrifying nights, and parkour chases are hitting just right for most people, even if there are some rough edges that need polishing.
It’s clear that Techland has another hit on their hands with Dying Light: The Beast, but the community is definitely vocal about what they want to see improved and added in future updates. Whether it’s New Game Plus, ray tracing fixes, or making those mysterious volatile hives actually accessible, players have made their priorities crystal clear.
For now though, the chaos continues in Castor Woods, and most players are too busy smashing zombie skulls and running for their lives to worry too much about the missing features. But you can bet they’ll keep asking for them until Techland delivers. PlayStation and Xbox gamers are also enjoying various other titles.
