What a glow-up: The Beast just began selling itself and the beast continued growing. The techland reported pre-order sales exceeding one million. One million!!! Well, a whole lot of people must be itching to hit some zombie flesh. And with all the hype out there, Techland is giving out that exclusive APEX Car Skin to anybody who has already bought the game or gets it before launch. It glows in the dark?? Come on, that is just too much.

Uh, now what was it I was saying? Oh yeah! The car skin. The APEX skin glows in the dark. So when you eventually find yourself cruising around Castor Woods on a moonlit night trying to get away from, well, tenderizing, your ride will look so fly. Those little details just make the entire experience of the game.

Things went a little messy as players raised a ton of questions. Obviously. The most pressing question was for the owners of Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition. See, an army of customers Dying Light 2 purchased the edition called the Ultimate Edition, which at first had promised DLC in the future. Techland then basically came out to say, “Nah! That DLC is now a whole new game, The Beast; hence the Ultimate Edition owners will get The Beast for free.” So the owners were already wondering whether or not they still get this glow car?

Almost as fast as they could answer, Techland gave a very nice answer. They confirmed that if you own the DL2 Ultimate Edition, you will actually get the APEX Car Skin, so a lot of relief fell to those who dropped the cash for that big edition early on. At one point, one user, called Cody (legend_cody on Twitter), asked, “What about the people like myself who have dying light ultimate edition do we still receive it even though we don’t pre-order?” The official account gave a big fat yes. Yay.

Then there is always one. joker5405, aka Andrew Jackson, states, “No pre-load for ultimate edition owner’s is absolutely ridiculous.” Fair enough. Pre-loading is now basically a must-have for the big premieres. Giving a game to download on the launch day is a special sort of torture. Here’s hoping Techland will sort it out.

That excitement is real. Said another user, Josh877_, “I’m so excited. The only gripe I have so far is the lack of the x-ray bone breaking. One of the most satisfying parts of the first one.” That’s a very specific reference to Dying Light 1, which features x-rays during combat showing bones breaking. These are the kinds of visceral details that players remember; it sounds like they’re hoping for a return to that level of detail.

And now, performance in consideration. SSG Glazer (YeatIsTheBest1) stated something about framerate with a hint of confusion, and then Hikki the Sage jumped in and explained most games have a fidelity mode (better graphics, 30fps) and a performance mode (smoother, 60fps). Sounds like a whole thing. Gamers just want their games to run well, man.

Always nice to see the windows full of activity, as some, like Jonny, ask if anybody is doing one more play-through of Dying Light 2 before The Beast launches, and others, including VoidRetro Δ, are already back in DL2 prepping for the launch despite thinking It was rough at the start, hoping it is better now. This really builds excitement, and there is a community eager to return to that universe.

Leat’eq better said, “One million pre-orders is huge! Congrats.” It is, in fact, huge. A million pre-orders for The Beast, which is one massive expansion turned into a largely standalone game, is a huge show of faith from the community. It shows that people are still all in on the world of Dying Light, even with a few bumps on the road during the release of the second game.

That discussion swiftly moved into vehicle customization, which some players apparently never thought existed in The Beast. Odins_Mead asked, “You can customise vehicles in it? Was not aware of that.” So, therefore, this free skin also reveals a new feature, which is a great way to hype the game. Customizable cars in a zombie apocalypse? Count me in.

Then, a few bring a bit of a slow train months later, Meshall194 included, admitting, “I still haven’t played Dying Light 2 and bought it day one lmao.” Been there, dude. That backlog is real.

But it’s all good vibes from the front lines. Techland is rewarding their players, speaking to them directly via Twitter, and building momentum toward what is shaping up to be an insane launch. The APEX skin is the perfect little bonus-a gesture for everyone who has stuck publicly by them. It’s not about the big numbers; it’s about connection. They see a million-plus people invested, and they’ve said thanks in an actually really cool way: a glow-in-the-dark car to rip through darkness with. How fitting is that? For a game about surviving the night, now your car can light the way. Or, at least, look really, really cool while trying not to die. Can’t wait to see that in action. Many players enjoy it on PlayStation and Xbox.
