Techland prepared an ominous announcement for all of the Dying Light fans-out of which they put out the Deluxe Edition of Dying Light: The Beast, fully loaded with extras. They drop the link for purchase right away, so going back into the bag: The soundtrack, the tourist map of Castor Woods, and a special prepper bundle are all included in the bundle. Of course, gamers had thoughts.
The Deluxe Edition announcement started off by getting everyone excited and annoyed about the confusion. Chris Ortiz straight up asked, like, “Are we gonna be able to upgrade if we already have the standard version down from a pre-order?” Like, bruh, why you gotta drop this after people had locked in their orders? Classic gaming industry move, amirite? Meanwhile, Matt over here is more concerned about Crane’s fashion sense, calling him “park ranger dad.” Honestly? Valid. Crane’s fit is kinda cozy.
Others weren’t so keen on just going 100% digital. MR_SaBeR20 called it a rip-off because there was no physical edition that came with a CD and a map. And honestly? I mean, not the worst point. Some of us actually like holding stuff in our hands. Ayore🎮💿 literally asked if a physical release is coming while Slavomír Pavlišák was begging for a Steelbook. Techland, y’all hear that? The people want tangible goods.
Now back to the whole ongoing argument about deluxe editions as a whole. A handy man named No Name (yes, that’s his handle) called it a “scam edition,” hence causing a mini-celebration by Ocean Andrews on Twitter basically stating, “Uh, this has been a thing for 20 years, chill.” And honestly? The truth lies somewhere between. Deluxe editions are standard, but also…yeah, it feels a little sus when extra content is something that feels like it should’ve been in the base game anyway.
Now on to the actual gaming stuff, William Veryzer hit up Techland about the crafting system, begging them to make it more like the first game. Apparently, Dying Light 2’s system killed the fun of finding weapons? Oof. Meanwhile, c0nstantin wants PC specs revealed (same, dude), and DerpyFlerpy is out here asking about Steam Deck performance. Techland, y’all got some Q&A to do.
Oh, and Vincent winces with the real question: “How much is it gonna cost to get these extra items if I already bought the edition with The Beast? Because nobody wants to pay twice for the same game.” And thartaag just wants to pre-load if their internet sucks. Relatable.
So, the Deluxe Edition is out now, with everything cool- soundtrack, map, prepper gear, and more. But the gamers are split. Some wanna hang with it, some are shouting at the edition over the lack of physical goodies, and some wanna know about the crafting system anyway. One way or another, Dying Light: The Beast is already shaping into a wild ride, and we’re all aboard for that. Now, for that Steelbook edition…
