Techland teased a clip with a player sorting things out in Dying Light: The Beast, and damn it is wild! Official Dying Light account account shared the clip showing FirstIYeetThenRepeat drifting ever so smoothly with one of the game’s vehicles. They had to caption it, “u/FirstIYeetThenRepeat is a BEAST at drifting! πŸš™ Got a crazy gameplay clip of your own? Share it with us on X using #TheBeastPlay!”

The clip opens with this player learning the car with such zen finesse sliding around corners at perfect drift angles that make you say “wow! Those guys are really good.” The vehicle control was just… awesome. Like, I mean, we have all tried to drift in games only to end up facing the completely wrong way or probably wrapped around a lamppost, while this is…clean!

But the responses indicated that, contrary to the positive feedback, the Dying Light community actually harbors… very mixed feelings about the driving mechanics in The Beast. Some players actually sidestepped any problems and started defending driving: “Driving feels good,” one said, but then proceeded to go on about what is really the most annoying issue of all-getting stunned and stopped dead in their tracks, halfway through the race, by contact with some random object. That’s got to be a much bigger pain!-You know, when you’re about to build up all that speed and BANG! Some random fence is saying no.

The third-person driving brought up other users’ concerns. One user bluntly asked, “There is 3rd person driving?” and received a yes in answer-yes, the clip indeed showed the vehicle from an external camera angle. This is very important, considering the fact that Dying Light has always been one hundred percent first-person, everything. Another player chimed in, “Now do it in first person,” which, I suppose… fair. First-person drifting probably sounds like a good way to get a headache, but also kinda cool?

But it’s not just the community that’s discussing driving. Oh, no. The goings-on in the replies quite literally read like a shopping list for what the future needs. New Game Plus takes it as the single most requested feature, with several players begging for it. “New game plus soon hopefully 🀞🏻” said one user. Another just demanded, “Add NG+ please Techland πŸ™” Because, like, really, they want to replay the game with all their gear intact. And you know, I’ve got to say, it makes all the sense in the world.

Then the hype for Dying Light 3 is already leaving the station. One freshly-finished-a-game player asks, “PLEASE tell me DLC is planned or a sequel. GRE is still out there πŸ‘€” while another posted, “dying light 3… please?” with a GIF of hopeful anticipation. The community seemingly places a lot of thought into where this franchise goes next while playing the current game.

Technical issues even came up in the replies-One user demanded, “FIX THE CRASHING ISSUE,” good God, that’s never pleasant. Then someone inquired about RT coming, presumably meaning ray tracing, whilst yet another person in the same thread observed that, “that dlss going crazy” in the clip, so props to the level of visual quality.

The wish list got pretty elaborate- one player suggested a loot vaccum, which would suck up all dropped items in the vicinity, with a cooldown timer to stop spam. Honestly, that doesn’t sound so bad. Another wished for cross-play between PC and PlayStation, which should now be the norm but sure isn’t in every game.

Other suggestions included new outfits (someone really wants a beaver costume?), better snacks granting temporary buffs, and bringing finishers from Dying Light 2 into The Beast. The community does have ideas, and they are not shy about sharing them.

One commenter had a different take, apparently unimpressed: “The car is trash don’t try to promote it”; well, harsh. A further comment was in Spanish and expressed the inadequacy of cars and the GPS making one take longer routes, and yeah, bad GPS directions are the worst in real life and apparently in zombie games as well.

What’s kind of interesting here, though, is that just a simple clip showing the drifting opened chapters upon chapters of conversation touching on the current state and possible futures for the game. Starting with mechanics they’d like fixed, drifting off to brand-new game modes and a sequel, players talked about pretty much everything. This is a good indicator of just how invested the Dying Light community is and just how much they care about where the Techland franchise is headed.

The #TheBeastPlay hashtag is obviously Techland encouraging more user-generated content, and they should be, because let’s be real-every single one of those community clips identify some of the best moments in gaming; moments born out of player’s ingenious or hilarious use of the tools developers gave them. Whether it’s nailing a drift or little to no perceived method of killing zombies, community clips exemplify the best gameplay.

So anyway, that drifting clip might just look like some more cool gamer moments being shared on social media; however, the surrounding conversations truly highlight what players want from Dying Light: The Beast moving forward. Higher-quality driving mechanics, New Game Plus, fewer crashes, and eventually… well, Dying Light 3 is on everybody’s mind now. In the meantime, the community keeps sharing their best gameplay moments with a gentle (and in some cases not-so-gentle) nudge for those wished-for features.
