Finally, after what seemed like a grueling wait, the much-anticipated sequel to the renowned zombie survival game from Techland is finally releasing tomorrow on the 18th of September. The developers sent out one final hype tweet that left gamers on the edge of excitement and fury-all about pre-load issues.
The official Dying Light Twitter account said ominously, “1 day left! It’s almost time…All that pent up rage, can you feel it? Break free of the pain and suffering you’ve endured for years,” very dramatic, yet horribly true. Now, players are told to “Unleash the Beast,” which is said to be the motto for the whole event. Now, imagine: the pre-order link has never been too far from sight.
The chaos unfolds in the replies. All the pre-load drama is now bubbling there. Like the one from @larry_faulke_px asking, “When Steam Preload??????” With a million question marks. That is, in comparison, polite, since @TheVoidRetro asks with a smile, “When is the steam launch? :).”
Besides, Xbox users also encounter problems. Apparently, there was some bug that gave certain people early access to the game? So then they went and disabled downloads on Xbox; apparently according to @OhMyKCrane, “They disabled the ability to download it on Xbox because due to a bug some people could already play the game in advance.” That sucks, man. Imagine playing the game early, then getting the privilege taken away. Yikes.
Another issue is the regional versions. @77Anex asks if it is “uncut in Germany?” which is always a big factor in Germany for zombie games. @Osstriker84_ keeps concerned about regional plays, “I ASK you again and again If i order the german version, is it possible to play with other regions?? Because in past we couldnt play dying light 2…” which, yeah, would suck if you’re locked out of playing with your buddies.
@lucaslu_ckli is all installed and ready to go: “Already installed. Let’s get it done.” So show-off-y. En route, others are stoked, with @BonelessAEsir stating, “Tomorrow is gonna be fun😊,” and @GreatStoryCorey saying, “It’s going to be a great day for gaming”-indeed.
The entire preload mess is platform-specific madness. Some Xbox people managed to download it days ago with @Dmax_117, others are still locked out. Meanwhile, Steam users are getting restless. Then we had @PrimeEnte asking, “What about SteamDeck?” Which is a great question; will this run on the Deck? Probably, but who knows.
Another random remark came from @SynthPotato who said, “MrBeast shall finally arrive,” which…? Does MrBeast have something to do with Dying Light 2? That would be a bit weird but honestly, nothing surprises me anymore.
The hype is literally killing people. @AlanSomma1 says: “One more day to shit myself (at night),” which is both scary and relatable if you’ve actually played the first title ever. Those night chases were scary!
That whole Techland “unleash the beast” thing is working and that is what got everyone hyped amid technical difficulties. The game has been in development for an eternity, was late, and now is here, well almost. That is if you can get it downloaded in time.
Even more interesting is how pre-load is different in other platforms. Console players seem to be the ones affected with varying experiences based on what region and what edition they purchased; “@DevelishCrowley ultimate edition owners dont get pre load” sounds about right.
The community, however, has been pretty helpful, with people sharing links and solutions in the replies. @VizualFL is still posting the link trying to solve the download issues. It’s nice to see people helping in that way.
In the least, all want to play this much-awaited game. Parkour, zombies, choices affecting the world- sounds cool. If only the servers wouldn’t go down on launch day and everyone could get the game downloaded.
So yeah, tomorrow is going to be Dying Light 2 launch day. Time to go “Unleash the Beast” or whatever it is. Hopefully, you can actually get the damn thing downloaded beforehand. What a time to be alive. Or undead. Whatever.
