Earlier today, Doc Shock parachuted a massive bomb right in the Twitter sphere. This was the so-called Two-Time announcing his cherished plan of going live within the next thirty minutes, playing Hitman: World of Assassination. Nah, he’s not so-called “casual” playing. He even issued a challenge to JCVD himself. What?? Doc tweeted the poetic words that JCVD “has so much to teach.” That in itself just screams classic Doc.
The stream was going to be about Doc killing JCVD inside the game, which will obviously make sense to anyone who has ever played Hitman given there’s a mission featuring JCVD. And the replies below his tweet just descended into pure madness, as all those of the Champions Club are expected to do: some hyped, some confused, and some just glad he wasn’t playing Warzone for once. Chromium007 said, “Nice! Anything but Warzone” with skull emojis. And honestly? I agree.
Another person with an account named checotey replied with, “yes man, finally some decent alternatives to COD,” followed by a fist bump emoji. Guess the Doc community is a tad tired of the usual battle royale action, and this alternate Hitman stream offers a welcomed reprieve. But then, you’ve got to have someone to trash it, right? xxcurvexx straight up wrote: “Trash game.. don’t stream.” Like, okay dude, let people enjoy things.
This was funny because many started flooding the comments with different accounts going, “How come you teach him but not me??” It actually became a thing. Even somebody with the name Einhornz_a_MAN (I mean, really, with this username) was asking the same question. I guess everybody wants a lesson from the Two-Time.
The hype was real. JPancakes90 replied with “HITMAN STREAM TODAY Yayayayaya” and a gif of celebration, whereas Dave_Blackest said “Oh baby baby baby this’ll be good.” Pretty much all good energy, except for the one detractor, but whatever.
What’s interesting about this stream is how Dr Disrespect approaches single-player games. Unlike his usual competitive stuff, Hitman is all about stealth and planning. Knowing Doc, however, he went in guns blazing anyways. It’s just his style. Violence, speed, momentum, all that. Chris Law said, “Mr. Tanaka is his shidoshi! Violence, Speed, and Full momentum will be needed!” which is probably exactly how it went down.
Then again, corymaag asked a weirdly specific question: “Hey, Doc- quick side note- have you had any issues with your free night and weekend cell phone plans?” Just random. Twitter replies are pretty much a strange mixture of relative comments and three steps sideways.
The best is probably by cosmicvandenim: “80s action stars don’t lose. They just end up teaming up in the end. You know this Doc.” Which is totally a case with JCVD movies if I think about it. Maybe there was a team-up instead of a takedown? We would have to watch the VOD to find out.
This stream was just perfect for variety streaming, honestly. Seeing the sameness of the game every time just gets on one’s nerves, no matter if it is the Doc himself carrying the entertainment. Switch it over to Hitman, and we have fresh content, fresh memes, fresh everything. And seeing the comments, the community definitely appreciated it.
SilverBullet even labeled this as the “stream of the decade for The 2X,” and that means an awful lot coming from a person who’s always eating up Doc content. Also, Hitman really fits his personality, right? The suit, the precision, the overacting. It’s just perfect for him.
Funny how people were joking about the start time. joncas81628 replied, “Got it, so you’re going to start in 55 minutes,” followed by a thinking face emoji. Streamers are never on time, especially when they say “30 minutes,” so classic.
At the end of the day, it’s wonderful to see big streamers switch up their content. Even if it’s for one stream, it keeps things interesting. And judging by the engagement on Twitter, people were definitely interested. The tweet had amassed tons of replies in no time, each brimming with different energy, though mostly positive.
Also it’s always newsworthy when Dr Disrespect cracks jokes in his weird new way. That guy has a very, very large fan base, so whenever he decides to switch games, it puts a spotlight on it. Probably a ton of new people learned about the game series thanks to this Hitman stream, which is always a positive for the devs.
Well, that’s the whole sweep on the Doc-Winning at Streamingside. From the announcement on Twitter and the expected Champs Club reaction, it was nothing but chaos, lots of excitement, and some confusion to really make it a joy to witness.
