Right, DOOM fans, listen: Bethesda has a little spicy surprise for anyone who might have been busy ripping and tearing through DOOM Eternal. For a limited time only, they’re giving out the QuakeCon DOOM Slayer skin for free—with good reason, it sounds as awesome as it is. But there is a catch, and you must be fast with those hoops to jump through.
All right, let’s get to the mundane part: you need to have your Bethesda.net account linked to your game and open the DOOM Eternal, and then there’s the wait. For the skin to be included in your inventory, you’ll have to excruciatingly wait for 48 hours. No instant gratification here, my friends. But hey, that is free stuff!
Now, the reaction from the DOOM community, it was mixed, as usual. Players like @Hellgate79 said that they were off to the Ripatorium to try it out. Others aren’t impressed. @ShangoTheMighty called it a “lazy recolor,” and @wiedzminshiet straight up said it’s “a massive step backwards” from the usual skin quality in Eternal. Ouch.
Then, there are the puzzled ones. @StevesGamingTM reloaded the game 10 times wondering where his skin was—bro, it’s 48 hours, not 48 seconds. Meanwhile, @PortalDiver is sweating bullets since his current graphics card won’t even let him launch the game. That’s a tough break, man.
Then you have the usual suspects like @ALeonOriginal, who couldn’t care less about skins, just wants Denuvo gone. Classic.
But now along comes the question—will it be sold later to those who miss out? Bethesda has remained mum. If you base it on their past behavior, probably not. Time-limited means indeed time-limited, so if you want to do QuakeCon Rambo, you best jump on this.
Oh, and for anybody hopeful of a Switch 2, all right now, @Respaldo_albar0 is campaigning for DOOM The Dark Ages to hit the next Nintendo machine. Keep dreaming, buddy.
So, if you are one of those still demon slaying in DOOM Eternal (or soon-to-be returning into that realm), this is your chance for the free drip; go ahead and link that account, start up the game and try not to reload it 50 times like some of these folks. Patience, gamers, that skin will come.
And if it doesn’t? Well, at least you’ve done a little more ripping and tearing. Now that’s the real win.
