Are you hardcore DOOM and DOOM II aficionado? Get your ass prepared because here it is, Update 3, it rocks. That is like one more patch that Bethesda and id Software have delivered of course, for SIGIL II, with several fixes and improvements designed for the modders. Quite frankly, it is about damn time.

For those who have been living under rocks (or have not touched keyboards since 1993), SIGIL II has been hailed the sequel to the notorious SIGIL WAD, a fan expansion that actually functioned as an unofficial fifth episode to the original DOOM. SIGIL created by John Romero brutal and brilliant is pretty much everything that DOOM purists wanted. And SIGIL II is coming with some more pain-uh-legacy.

The update smoothed quite a lot of edges with which modders interact by fixing all those bugs, hence making the entire process of modding these classics so much less grueling. Because, let’s be honest, half the craziness in DOOM comes from not-so-gently pushing it to the brink yard.

Now, interestingly, there hasn’t even been a single real reply under the original tweet (so far). Quite amazing, right? One would think the DOOM fans would be busy screaming about this into the void. Or are they busy ripping demons apart with their chainsaws? Or is it that they can’t get over just how awesome this is?! Whatever it is, it feels eerily quiet for some reason. The hype? The arguments? Then that inevitable comment asking “does it run on my toaster?”.

If you have been very overdue needing some DOOM or DOOM II activity (and we really ask you what’s the matter?), well, here is a time when you would need to be reckoned with. With SIGIL II and the modding enhancements, never was there a better excuse to relive shotgun diplomacy.

So grab the BFG, update the game, and spend another weekend losing to a bunch of pixelated demons, because some things never change, and bless them for it.

Wait, what was I just saying? That’s right. Demons. Guns. Update. Go play it.
