Devolver Digital, the publisher behind series such as Hotline Miami and Metal World Chaos XD has formally announced that they have registered a Japanese-specific Twitter account.

The account will be used to share information about new video games and special events in Japan. The new account was created last month, January, but has finally begun posting content. The Twitter account has already reached over 1,000 followers since its formal launch.

Devolver Digital is based in Austin, Texas, and primarily publishes indie content. While their company may not be as large as other publishers, they are gaining worldwide attention for their variety of titles. Their library of games covers many diverse genres. The company also gained attention from its unique presentation at E3 years ago.

The new Twitter account will be the first place Japanese gamers can access region-specific information about Devolver Digital titles. The account also announced they planned on releasing Japan-specific events.

So far, there is little content posted on the new Twitter account, but more are likely as Devolver Digital publishes more games in Japan. One of the Tweets announces the creation of the account, while the other is a retweet from Nintendo’s Indie World.

The second tweet is a retweet from Indie World Nintendo featuring Stories Untold by developer No Code. According to the Steam description: “Stories Untold is a narrative-driven experimental adventure game, that bends the genre into something completely unique. Combining a mix of classic text-adventure, point-and-click and more, 4 short stories are packaged together into a single mysterious anthology.”

Stories Untold is currently only an English title, but the video preview and corresponding tweet may be a hint that the game will soon be translated and released in Japan. The video is around one minute long and displays translated text on the CRT television plus menu options.

Most recently, the company announced they were releasing six titles in 2020. This announcement was made in October 2019, but it seems that the company is staying true to its word. There was no further information on what titles will be included in the 2020 release schedule, or which locales Devolver Digital will focus on first.

Gamers do know that if Suda 51 and Swery 65’s joint project Hotel Barcelona has begun development this year, Devolver Digital has already expressed interest in publishing the title.
